Alright, after about an hour or two of playing around, not really sure how long, the surround sound is all set up now, and the inputs to/from the TV, computer input, surround sound, component switchbox, etc are all up and functional in the complicated way I had it set up prior to moving, so now it sounds good ^_^
There is, however, a somewhat tinny sound I have been getting out of two of the speakers for some time. I did some trouble-shooting though, and it's specifically the "rear" speaker inputs on the surround sound box that maxes the tinny sound and not the speakers, so unless I replace the surround sound box, or overload the speakers and plug in two sets to the 'front' speaker spots.
Here's a rough idea of my "complicated" version of how things get connected. It's complicated because there are two places are I split the connection for redundancy in sound.
Surround Sound inputs:
- TV sound
- Composite AV sound (i.e. play mp3 through DVD player w/out TV being on)
- AUX headphone jack input (i.e. computer or mp3 player)
TV inputs:
- VGA + headphone (VGA cable + extension, headphone cable + extension)
- Composite AV/S-video (from AV switchbox for game consoles (PS2/XBox 360), DVD/VCR)
- Component Video x 2
- HDMI x 2
TV outputs:
- Component AV (R/L audio sent to Surround Sound input 1)
Complications:
- Component AV output has a splitter so that the the R/L audio is split so that it will go into both (1) TV input 2 and (2) Surround Sound input 2.
- Headphone cable has a splitter near the TV which splits sound so that it will go to both (1) TV input VGA and (2) Surround Sound 3.
Possible Future Complications
- TV output has R/L audio sent to Surround Sound input 1, this might be split off to send another set of speakers for some additional sound/base)
Now time to finish watching the last hour of Bunraku!
