(no subject)
Tentative plans: April 2-12, Venice to visit my uncle's crazy wino ass on his boat. Venice is actually closer to here than Berlin, strangely enough. But still.. Berlin April 16-19, if everything works out. I think I'll hit up a reisebüro tomorrow. Classes don't even start till the 22nd, so I have to fill the time with sweet vacations. I'm definitely excited for classes to start, especially cause robotics is one of them. Also .. logic and learning (informatik), either numerik or differential geometrie, and then some german as a foreign language nonsense.
Last weekend I went to Heidelberg with the Sprachlerinstitute (runs the language classes). Aside from the crazy-ass castle it was mostly just a touristy hole in which I heard more English speaking than German. PROBLEM... haha. It was purdy.. but I'm glad I chose to come to school in Freiburg instead since I had the choice between heidelberg, freiburg, and stüttgart. Although.. there was a record store there with vieel kompakt und bpitch. I listened to an incredible modeselektor record but it was just a tease since I don't have a player here.
This may not be of interest to some of you, haha.. but I had no fucking idea that Oboe-players (possibly other reeded instrument players?) had to craft their own fucking reeds from scratch. My roomate said that if you want to be an oboe player, you have to be self sufficient. I was wondering why you wouldn't just buy like 20 reeds and not worry about running out. But apparently the reed-making is part of the style. Who knew.
And tonighht.. going to the brewery for some drinks with my norwegian girlfriend (just kidding) Åshild. This weekend, BASEL.
