Writer's Block: Online relationship shopping

I should preface this by saying that I am admittedly biased, since my wife and I met here on LJ.
In general I would like to be able to say that online dating makes people focus more on ideas and dialog and the things that they have in common. Unfortunately, it feels like people just browse through each other's user pics, looking for someone to hook up with. That especially seemed to be the case back when I had a myspace account. I think it's much less prevalent on LJ due to the fact that it's never seemed like LJ really emphasizes picture posts. Just my own personal observations.
