Silhouettes form pools
Of moon light reflections
Crumbling the soft earth
Between my hands
Tightly bound in gold ribbon
Slivers of time passing
Through fists
Refusing the calm
Of just being
Tracing the outline
Of soul
On the clay below
Searching in urban landscapes
For the innocence
Of hopscotch dreams
Hidden in the buildings above
The burden loosens
Fingers afraid
That release is losing
Refusing the thought
Of her standing
Reaching out
Taking hold
And pulling me free
From the shadows
Of my own excuses
