Haven't made a substantial post for a while, might as well post now.

A fortnight ago, we traded in our crappy '91 Camry in for a 2004 Honda Jazz. In Red. It's a fantastic car, and we're really loving everything about it. Whether it's the presence of an air conditioner, the fact that three-point-turns are now just, well, turns, or that the rear demister works the way it should. Just think--if the old car's demister was working perhaps I would have been able to see where I was going before I broke the rear window! Oh wells.

To celebrate the fact that I have a car that is Not Shit, I went on a trip to Auckland. I caught up with the lovely salamanderdeath, debxena and moonspirit43. The latter I took to see Dark Knight in IMAX with me. As awesome as the movie was, watching her watch the movie was just as entertaining. And OMG, the Watchmen trailer played before the movie, and that was just fantastic. On a less awesome note, about halfway through the movie we saw a father leave the theatre with two kids, neither of which would have been ten. What the fuck does an M rating mean, right? It's Batman! Batman's a cartoon! No need to research what might actually be in the movie, right? Dick. But that was the only low of the whole weekend, it was great taking the car for a spin on open road and catching up with people in Auckland just for the sake of catching up with them.

This weekend was pretty sweet too. To celebrate the fact that we have a car that's worth keeping out of the rain, I tidied up the garage so that a car could actually fit in it! We're not finished, there's some extra stuff that needs to be taken out. But damn it, we can park it in there and open the doors on either side! After my industrious Saturday I was incapacitated by a very painful stomach bug, which disrupted myself and Lyz for hours. Ultimately I had to pass out from the couch after 2am from sheer exhaustion, but when I woke up (at 4:25!) the pain was gone and I got some sleep in.

Sunday, however, was nothing short of fantastic. Despite a lack of sleep, we hit the ground running. On a whim, we decided to cook pancakes for anyone who we could invite on short notice, which turned out to be lord_reluctant, orthianz and reaverta. It was meant to be our inaugural D&D game, but due to multiple communication hiccups that's been postponed a little while longer. Oh wells. Our reluctant lord had to leave, and the remaining two hung out with us and read, generally having a lazy day. Orthia had already agreed to look after Izabella to free us up to watch a movie, but since she was already there, we decided to just go and see an afternoon film as opposed to dropping her home and picking her up later. Wall-E is a fantastic adorable movie and I recommend anyone who has ever enjoyed a Pixar movie to go and see it. By the time we got back, it was about 4, and so by that point we just had them stay for dinner.

It's been a great couple of weekends. After this weekend Izabella is going to be at her grandparents, so we might have to see if we can't get up to some antics then too. Another trip to Auckland, perhaps..?

movies, friends, rl
