So at lunch the other day, my dad asks my sister, "What's on your list of movies to see while we're here?" And Kristina says, "Well, there's 'Little Man'..."
and I promptly bang my head repeatedly aganist the table.
"NO!"
Don't worry, we saw 'Monster House.' I don't, I repeat, I don't recommend it.
And then to top it all off, I'm sitting on the couch reading my book while my dad is on the other couch with his laptop, and we hear a cat meowing. Not a cute little "meooow" like a normal cat would make, but the "Meow! Meow! Meow!" of a cat who's dangling off a balcony on the seventh floor needing desperate help. After some minor investigation, I finally open the front door of the condo to see my grandmother leaning off the railing of the elevator balcony and my grandfather close to that same railing with his huge camera aimed and ready. My grandmother was meowing, and my grandfather was snapping shots. I go lean over the railing to see what the fuck they were directing their bizarre actions at, and I see a little black cat in the parking lot eight floors below us. My grandmother was bloody-murder meowing at the poor thing to coax it closer to I-don't-know-what so that my grandfather could take better? pictures of it with his huge zoom-in 6 megapixel camera. A cat. In the parking lot. From eight floors up. Questioning my grandparents did no good, abuela just kept on meowing and abuelo just kept on snapping and fiddling with the zoom. I finally had to crack up, and from inside the condo I could hear my dad yelling "Mami?" repeatedly, also to no avail. When I explained what the cat-noise had been, he made a face that said, "Yeah, my parents are old," and expressed his concern for my sister's friend who came with us on this trip. He fears she regrets her decision to come. Anyways, when my gparents finally came back inside, my dad was like, "WTF guys? Was it a bobcat?" and my abuelo said, "It was a meow meow cat!"
I'm off now to play a gestures-related game with the family minus my grandfather, who wisely is refusing to play. My grandmother just called me a "dumdum" for not understanding her gesture for "star." This is going to be a hoot. One day, I will take the rest of my friends on vacation with me so they can meet my grandparents and further enhance their lives. But it has to be soon guys, they're goin' quick.
