Atmospheric Nitrogen

Dec 16, 2004 20:51

So this is a new one. Written approx. 10 minutes ago, so it's not necessarily completely done yet. It sort of ended up a bit more, i dunno, confessional-ish than I'd originally intended. If it irks you, tell me. Also, it's sort of what happens when a bio geek and a word nerd share a brain.

There is an epic
hanging in the air, waiting
for lightening to strike
and fix it,
make it available to hungry plants
clinging to the crags of my brain.
The ideas want to grow,
reach out limber vines
to the ones who need
to touch life again.
The flowers crave to
send violently bright blossoms
flying into the face of a stern sky.

But the storm!
If the lightening is to strike
the rain must fall, and the wind
bend all to her shifting desires,
bearing thunder that shakes bones.
And when the renewing fury is over
the freshness will linger
coupled with the dang of decomposition
and the earth will be left tingling,
never the same afterwards.
Let the rain come.
Biology (my sanity) demands it.
