I have developed a theory that the reason that the CSI shows are so popular is because they use songs by the Who for their theme songs, but not just Who songs, and not just the five or so Who songs that normal people actually like, but like the best awesomest 30 seconds of those Who songs. For example, if one of them uses "Baba O'Riley," (and who can remember?) it probably uses the "OUT HERE ON THE FIELDS!" verse part and then the "TEEENAGE WASTELAND! A TEENAGE WASTELAND!" chorus, and that's it! You don't have to hear the 5 minutes of Townshend noodling on his prehistoric Moog at the beginning, and you can avoid the 5 minutes of spritely fiddle at the end! Everyone wins, and they're so content that they stick around for the forty minutes of bullshit forensics and gore porn that follows.
