Tom 1, Tumblr 0.
Got Tumblr to take down a pic of me someone stole from a profile and posted it without explanation or permission. The Tumblr owner on his page is publicly rude to people who ask to have their pics taken down, so I went over his heads (big and little) to get it done, which they graciously did today.
If you have a Tumblr, it's real simple. If you see a picture you like and you wish to post it, find out who it is and just ask them. And have a gracious, open-minded, non-douchebag approach if someone asks you to take it down. It's just courtesy, not to mention a damn nice thing to do. Had I been approached about posting, I would have said, "Maybe", because the pic was R-rated, but benign enough that it wouldn't have bothered me. It's one thing for me to post something, but it's something completely different if someone finds a picture of me, saves it to their hard drive, and uploads it to their Tumblr without so much as a "hi"/"please"/"thank you" about it.
I've never posed professionally, never been asked, wouldn't hold my breath about being asked, so any pic taken of me is strictly amateursville. But I'm pretty vigilant about seeing myself in places unintended by well-meaning people for whom courtesy and being polite is a foreign language.
Much ado about not very much? Perhaps. Tempest in a teapot? Certainly. But I own me, no one else, as far as I'm concerned.
