Title: He's Good On Roofs
Disclaimer: Being a bloke who likes to slash pretty men doesn't make me RTD, I don't work for the BBC, and as much as I might like to, I don't own Jack or Ianto or any part of Torchwood. I do, however, order pizza under that name on principle.

I like it. I think you did a good job capturing the every day Torchwood.

Running. Always with the running in the Whoniverse.

Thanks!

Have I mentioned how happy I am that I get a guaranteed one of *these* every single day? That would be "very" in the happy department.

What if he’s gone?

It's almost worse, in a way, knowing if he loses Jack someday, in either the physical sense, it'll most likely be Jack's own decision to go. Ianto probably hates the urge to cling on to him, too, but he can't really help himself sometimes.

I'm glad you're pleased! I'm enjoying writing them. They're very low-pressure, and good exercise.

And Ianto really does seem awfully attachment-prone, doesn't he?

I love the irrational concern.

Well, Jack's a bit of an aberration. And he can get hurt. And since all of these are post-Exit Wounds (not that I've explicitly said that, but there you go), I'd say Ianto's pretty safety conscious right now.

It's such a natural first thing to worry when someone's line goes quiet. Hurt? Dead?

And then with Jack, there's always that spectre that he'll go missing again.

Of course, the worry that he might be suddenly gone is not at all irrational, nor is the worry that he might be hurt, but the way Ianto approaches it is irrational -- he leads with the gut, not the logic. It's the same impulse that compels us to urge our loved ones to wear scarves, even when it's not really all that cold outside. That desire to wrap up what we love in soft cotton. Or arm it with tasers and swords and such.

Or to knit for anyone and everyone we like...

"You're nice! Have a washcloth/pair of mittens/wooly jumper..." (Well, maybe not the jumper. Not right away.)

Oh wow. Thank you! Brookmyre is on my list of authors that I'm not well-acquainted with, but want to read more of. Which book are you reading?

And I really do order pizza under the name Torchwood.

I love Ianto's reaction - sort of "Jack's okay but only because he's effing Jack" relief.

*snicker* "small shockwave"

Riiiight.

Small shockwave = 'big badda boom'

(Hey, they showed The Fifth Element on TNT this weekend. These things stick in my brain.)

And yeah, I just had this image of him sliding down the vent hood and laughing a little hysterically about everything being fine even though he's just run up twelve floors in the dark and Jack fell off the British Gas building again. It's one of those "Oh my god, my life is insane" moments.
