17: Calamity

Aug 04, 2010 20:16

[Just as the sun begins to set, when it seems like most of the chaos has subsided, there's suddenly a new sound amidst the cacophony the earthquake has brought. Cries; cries that sound explicitly not human, from roars to gurgles, to battle cries in a foreign tongue. Following these cries are the demons who made them, wanting nothing more than to ( Read more... )

[The release of the power cap was a bit like taking her first full breath of air. She'd spent the day digging people out of the rubble, a tedious but hardly taxing task, but now that dusk had fallen her spiritual senses were buzzing in a way which demanded that she investigate, or else she would not be getting any rest.

So Matsumoto heads towards the source of the loudest buzzing, her eyes peeled for the source.

It's not long until she spots one. Like and yet unlike a Hollow.]

Hello, ugly.

[What she sees is a Loa, floating in midair. It turns toward her upon hearing her insult]

I CoUlD sAY tHe SaME tO yOU. [ Half snake as it is, the Loa will intend to strike first, a flash of red coming from the skull eyes. It's a paralyze technique, and if not blocked or dodged, would render her essentially immobile.]

[A flash step, and she's no longer there. In fact, she speaks from a few feet behind the Loa - not yet attacking, she's waiting to see what it is and how it moves. The spiritual presence she's getting off of the thing isn't that high - she's far from worried, except for the fact that it's here when it clearly shouldn't be. She has to find out more, and she rests her hand on Haineko's hilt.]

Should we see if you're as slow as you are blind? You don't belong here. What are you?

[ The loa spins around to face her. If it had a face, it would be surprised.]

I aM caLLeD LOA.

I WaS SUmMonED HeRE. MAnY hUManS tO PLaY wiTH. [The loa seems to almost cackle at this point, chattering the skull together to make an eerie sound.]

YoU aRe AmuSING, ShOULd SHaRE. [ In a split second, there will be two more of them, floating in a type of Loa Legion.]

[Great, the snake in the skull thought she was funny, and brought friends along to play. Matsumoto wonders how many times it can do that, and bypasses the question as unimportant. Well, maybe fifty or so would be a problem, just because of numbers. All the same, she draws her sword and backs up a pace. Let them think she was intimidated. Heh. Let them think she was human.]

Summoned? Who summoned you?

[The main Loa whom she had first engaged with, shakes left to right slightly. It's a shrug, or a shrug for a Loa.]

UnIMporTAnT, I HAVe nO masTER. [The three Loa's will simultaneously shoot out what appear to be red strings towards Matsumoto, they're vampiric in nature and will suck the life out of her if they hit.

She might hear a rustle in the bushes though, while the attack is going on, and a Nekomata will float lazily out.]

It's a waste to ask it questions, y'know. [She jabs her finger towards the Loa's.] They're kinda simple.

[This was starting to get ridiculous. What had happened here today? Matsumoto flash steps forward, above those red strings, and aims her own attack at the skulls themselves with enough force to shatter a brick wall. She's fast and accurate - aiming a single stroke broad enough to hit two of them as they clustered together and turning to deal the third one a single blow.

And in the back of her mind, Haineko hisses just before that smooth voice cuts in.]

And you're not?

[The trio of Loa, having vastly underestimated her, are dealt with quickly.

The Nekomata in turn, yawns, stretching.]

Of course not~. [The Nekomata looks offended for a moment. She then tilts her head at Matsumoto, casting her a curious glance.]

You feel different. They're too stupid to notice that. [She floats just out of range, jostling her claws about.]

[Having given enough about herself away with the way that she dealt with the Loa, Matsumoto releases about half of the hold that she has on her reiatsu, and her spiritual presences manifests as a wind that whips their hair around.]

I am different. You're smart enough to tell - are you smart enough to talk as well? What are you. Who brought you here.

I'm talking right now, aren't I?

Nekomata ♥, a demon if you're being picky.

It's not really a who, but a what, but there is someone responsible for the what! [The Nekomata seems pleased at this answer, and giggles.]

[Matsumoto has long familiarity with cats. And she doesn't blink an eye, although a corner of her lips turn up. Yes, yes. Very clever. Too bad you'll have to die.]

What's the name of that someone?

((OOC: And I'm off to sleep! Look forward to picking this up later! /o/))

[ She considers the question answer, and does a flip in the air, then puts her hand to her chin.]

He's never really told us, though I could probably guess if I wanted to. Rumor is, God doesn't like him too much. We like him just fine, as long as he opens the portal for us~.

You on the other hand, you're a bit nosy. And you might distract the other men, so you need to die ♥. [ The Nekomata looks distinctly at Matsumoto's chest as she says this. Then as fast as the other Loa's appeared, a collection of demon spawns. There's 6 Loa's to replace the ones from before, and 4 Abbadon's, appearing behind Matsumoto. Unlike the Loa's and the Nekomata, the Abbadon's have a higher energy signal.]
((OOC: Me too! Same :D. Naoya will show up once her captain does, and he will have no problem telling you his name, rofl. / a million edits so YES I should go to bed

Che. [Well, this inconvenient. They appear without any sort of warning at all - and those big ugly ones are going to take more concentration than she'd like. For a moment, all Matsumoto does is bow her head a little in disgust and rapidly calculate her strategy.

She's going to lay money on the fact that those Abbadons are as slow as they look. They're more powerful too, so she'll deal with the faster distractions first. It's a point of pride for shinigami to keep their zanpakuto in its sealed stage, but she's starting to feel her patience wear thin. This place was supposed to be a vacation, darn it.]

Might?

[And since there was no one around to know what kind of skill it takes to do so, Matsumoto skips the incantation and simply raises one hand, calling out the name of way of binding.] Bakudou Sai.

[The bakudou is a paralyzing spell, meant to deal with numerous opponents of a low-to-mid-tier range. The Abbadons should be able to shake it off after a few seconds. Those few seconds should be all she needs. She flash steps towards the Nekomata first, intending to make it a quick, clean kill. Off with her head. Then she flash steps behind the Loa, intending to make quick work of them as well ( ... )

[The Loa's are for the most paralyzed by the spell, but the Abbadon's show no reaction and cast a spell of their own in response, as gigantic shards of ice start to rain down near Matsumoto. She gets all but one of the Loa's in her clean swipe, while one remaining launchs the red vampiric strings at her again.

As for the Nekomata, she's an agility type of demon, and she manages to sidestep the swipe, but her tail still gets cut off.]

You bitch!

Zionga! [ It's mid tier electric spell, but it shouldn't hurt too much-- they're strength is in their agility.]

((OOC: I don't think the kidou would effect the abbadon's too much, they shake off anything unless it's a direct, physical hit =O. And okey, I will bring in Naoya next comment then :D.))

[It's amazing what having half your ribcage torn out can do to a girl's pain tolerance. There's no way for her to dodge that electricity spell, but she doesn't cry out. Matsumoto just drops - and uses it to dodge the vampric strings coming at her. Those shards of ice are more of a worry, and one embeds itself in her shoulder as she falls before Matsumoto gets her reiatsu under her again and charges at the Loa, dodging the ice as she goes. This strike should finish the Loa, but she won't talk again until she's clear and when she does her voice is filled with disdain.]

I'm disappointed. I'd think you'd recognize a fellow cat. Growl, Haineko!

[The command releases her zanpakto in a flood of razor sharp ash. The ashes grind the ice attacking her into dust, and then she turns the hilt of her sword, directing the ash in a vast, spread out, and straight-forward attack towards the Nekomata and sweeping over to encounter the Abbadons ( ... )
