Sorry for my delay in replying.

It's interesting to see Jake Kane, bitter and vengeful still, wearing his grievances on his sleeve, and completely obvious to John.

Yes, I was going with the Jake Kane we see in the finale. I guess he had the whole 2nd and 3rd season to get that bitter.

I guess she's the locus of his bitterness about losing his children, but isn't that sort of missing the point regarding both of them?

But then he and Celeste always did seem to miss the point of them even when they were still together as a family, too.

I've always wondered if he sees Veronica as lost to him as well, since there was a possibility that she could have been his daughter. If they'd never confirmed that she was or wasn't then he could at least have the fantasy that she might be. And maybe that's her fault, too...

Also, really well-edited.

I have amazing betas! I will let them know you think so. :)

And your plot is certainly VM-worthy (and Sherlock-worthy as well) in its complexity. Hope you're having fun writing it!

*blush* Thank you! High praise from a great plot writer!

I didn't know you'd ever read any of my stuff...thanks back! You were one of the VM writers who inspired me to try myself.

You made me think about canon regarding whether Jake knows Veronica is not his daughter. I don't think we got it explicitly, but Duncan must have told his parents that she wasn't his sister before they resumed dating in season two. Otherwise, can you imagine the vituperative comments that Celeste would have spewed?

[There's something really wrong with me that I enjoy puzzling out little blips in canon like that.]

But still, Jake's weird, bizarre relationship with Veronica is something worth writing about (for both of us). Also, where is Celeste? Who is she torturing now?

Dun-dun-da!

Oh yes. I'm just THE WORST at leaving feedback.

Oh my! Well, that's made my day!

No, no. There's something right. Because from this usually comes some great fic. Off you go now!
