*Hermione*
Standing in front of the gargoyle, she sighed as the statue kept tilting its head to the side in curiousity. She had looked everywhere for Harry and Ron and even Parvati, Neville, and Seamus, but she hadn't seen them anywhere. She even wandered down to Hagrid's old hut, which was difficult without an invisibility cloak and the increased security. But no luck. She didn't like this idea. It felt too much like being a tattle tale, but with everything that had happened, she couldn't not seek out adult help when her two best friends were missing. Especially since knowing Harry, he was probably off on some hare-brained scheme to find and rescue her or something considering she had not been there for the past 5 days and had not been able to send an owl. Sighing, she looked imploringly at the gargoyle.
"Could you please let me in?"
The gargoyle just stared blankly at her.
"Arg, sherbert lemon or fizzy pops or um... lemon-heads..." she started listing off with no luck, even though she was sure that
*McGonagall*
She came down the hallway from having checked in on the status of Sven with Poppy, smiling faintly. She had to concur with Remus, Sirius did make a good dog. It was amusing nonetheless. And Remus' reaction had assured her it wasn't serious. Seeing Hermione outside the gargoyle, she raised an eyebrow.
"Miss Granger, is there something I can do for you?" she asked simply, turning to utter the paassword to the gargoyle and motioning the way upstairs.
» *Hermione*
She nodded as she followed McGonagall upstairs.
"Well, you see, first off, I'm sorry for missing so many classes. I'll make sure to make up all the work and am truly sorry, but all the flights and.. arg..."
Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she shook her head as she huffed out the breath.
"But that's beside the point... Professor..."
She bit her lip slightly. They'd hate her if they had just snuck off for fun, but what if they were in danger?
"Well, Professor, I was just up at the dorms and I've looked everywhere, but I haven't seen Harry or Ron at all and I was wondering if you perhaps know where they have run off too..."
*McGonagall*
She sat down behind the headmistress' desk, giving the brunette in front of her a curious look.
"Missing classes? Hermione, what are you talking about? You've been here since the beginning of term. Now, I admit, we've overlooked your fawning over Mister Weasley, but it's unsightly for the head girl to be displaying that much affection in public," she said sternly.
*Hermione*
She stared wide-eyed at McGonagall, her mouth opening and closing wordlessly before she shook her head.
"What do you mean? I've been stuck in bloody India and Hong Kong and France and God knows how many other insufferable places for the past five days!"
She stamped her foot as she felt her face get red with anger.
"And I do not fawn! Do you honestly think that I would actually embarass myself and Ron with such a low and sickly display!"
Huffing out an irritated breath, she waved her hand dismissively.
"But that's not the point. Ron and Harry are missing. As well as Parvati, Seamus, and Neville. And Dean for that matter, but I imagine that has to do more with his vampirism and Lavender will not tell me where any of them are."
*McGonagall*
She stood up from the desk.
"Miss Granger, I'm sure you don't mind if I ask you a few questions. How did Sirius Black escape the dementor's kiss? " she asked as she went around and motioned for Hermione to follow.
"Do you mean to tell me that almost all the seventh years are missing from Gryffindor?" she asked as she led the head girl towards the Aurors headquarters.
*Hermione*
She huffed out an irritated sigh as she followed McGonagall.
"Which one? The one that nearly happened or the one that he was waiting in the tower cell for? The one nearly given to him by the lakeside was stopped by Harry who conjured his patronus on the other side of the lake when we used the time turner to go back in time. Sirius broke out of jail before he could receive his appointed dementor's kiss because Harry and I rescued him from the tower cell on Buckbeak and I don't see what this has to do with anything. And YES, most of the Gryffindor seventh years are gone. THAT has been what I've been telling you!"
*McGonagall*
"I realize that, but you cannot tell me you are not a bit considered that there are TWO of you," she said sternly as she went into the Aurors headquarters.
"Tonks, I need a word," she said as she pulled the purple haired Auror to the side.
"Go and find Sirius. Tell him it's an emergency - Harry's missing - and that he's needed up here. And tell him to bring Remus," she said as she turned to another Auror she remember having in class years ago.
"Can you locate the following students on the map?" she asked before reciting names. "Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, Neville Longbottom, Parvati Patil.."
The Auror tapped the map with the locate charmed, surprised when none of the names came up.
"Very well then," she said as she had them do a location spell on the surrounding maps of Hogsmeade. Seeing the map pop up with their location at one of the shops, she turned to Hermione.
"Do you know why the students would be in Hogsmeade, Miss Granger?" she asked, holding up a hand to silence Sirius as he rushed into the room, hurriedly dressed in a black turtleneck and pants.
*Hermione*
She was about to explode about who someone would think there were two of her but McGonagall turned and busied herself before she got a chance. Looking around the room, she was amazed by the large Marauder's Map up on the wall. Wow... They really had scaled up the secruity around here. At McGonagall's question, she shook her head before biting her lip.
"Well, Sven Reilly wasn't in the dorms either. I imagine if they are all in Hogsmeade, he's led them out for another round of drinking at the Three Broomsticks."
*Sirius*
"Sven's in the infirmary," he said simply as he interuptted McGonagall and came to look at the map of Hogsmeade with McGonagall's location charm on it.
"That's not the Three Broomsticks, though," he said simply. "Three Broomsticks is reight here.." he said indicating another spot on the map.
"That looks to be one of the shops.." he said.
Turning to his Aurors, he smiled.
"Headmistress, with your permission, I'd like to go frighten these delinquents. Let them know that security's a bit tighter here. Maybe scare some sense into them."
*McGonagall*
She nodded.
"It seems they need a reminder. No hexing them, Sirius. And Remus, please go with him to make sure he doesn't abuse the power. Bring them back to the Great Hall. I'll dole out punishment there," she said. "Hermione, would you like to come with me to the Great Hall?"
*Hermione*
She nodded vaguely as she looked at the map, her brain already whirling with all the new information she's had to take in.
"So... If the three broomstick is here... that means Honeydukes is here..." she pondered aloud. "That shop looks like where the Weasley twins were planning to put their new joke shop..." she said quietly before looking up at Sirius. "Do you have secruity at all of the secret tunnels as well as around the grounds?" she asked curiously.
*Sirius*
"The few remaining tunnels collapsed during the battle in September, so the only guards are stationed along the perimeter, the gaes, and roaming patrols," he explained to the young witch.
*Hermione*
She bit her lip as she fidgetted slightly.
"Er... Are you certain of that? During summer hols, the twins had been bragging something awful about rerouting one of the tunnels to their shop..."
*Sirius*
"What? Which one, Hermione?" he asked, connecting the maps in his head as he tried to figure it out.
"That would explain how they disappared off the map,' Tonks quipped at his side.
*Hermione*
She shrugged.
"I would say the one that leads to the basement of Honeydukes would be the easiest to reroute. It does lead right into Hogsmead."
*Lupin*
Straightening his clothes, he ran through his memories of the tunnels and nodded.
"She's right, Sirius. It's an easy entrance from the castle too. Much easier than rerouting the Whomping Willow passage and trying to sneak students out that way."
*Sirius*
His muscles tensed in fury. If there was a tunnel, that meant added problems they hadn't forseen. He called out ten of his Aurors to come with him.
"Right, well, let's raid this little party. Professor McGonagall, we'll meet you in the Great Hall," he said storming out and towards the tunnel entrance, with his Aurors behind him.
He led the Aurors and Remus down through the tunnels, seeing where a new tunnel ahad been added. Hoping it led to the twins joke shop, he stopped when he saw two students ahead. Raising his lit wand higher, he looked in confusion.
"Alex? Kat?" he asked as the other Aurors came around him.
*Alex*
"Och, turn that light out ye son of a bitch. Who the feck is that anyway?"
He squinted into the light, holding up a hand to shield his face.
*Kat*
Looking up at Sirius and the Aurors, she blanched. Oh fuck...
"Um.. Er... Hello, Mr. Black.. It's.. ah, nice to see you're not a dog anymore?" she said weakly, trying to keep a hold of Alex as he wobbled about.
*Sirius*
"Jameson, take these two to McGonagall," he said harshly.
"Are there more students there?" he asked Kat.
*Kat*
She shrugged slightly before looking up at Sirius sheepishly.
"If it's alright, can we at least escort Alex to his room or the infirmary first? He's not feelin' so good. Ah'll tell him whatever McGonagall has ta say."
*Sirius*
"He's simply drunk. The hangover will do him good," he snapped. "Jameson, take them to McGonagall."
*Kat*
She bristled a bit as she glared at Sirius.
"I'm sure the vomit stains will do Jameson and McGonagall good as well," she snapped.
*Sirius*
He didn't bother to answer Kat as he led the Aurors further down the tunnel. Coming to the end of the tunnel, he led the Aurors into the joke shop.
"Alright. Everybody stop what you're doing. Put down your wands and the alcohol," he shouted, motioning for his Aurors to go search the premises.
"Mister Weasley," he said, seeing George come out of a closet with Parvati.
"I'd like a word with you and your twin. As would the headmistress, I'm sure. Party's over."
