Who: Laurel and anyone who feels like hopping in.
Where: Hogwarts hallways after dinner
When: Sunday evening

Having gone through check-in at the gate, Laurel had hurried up to the castle. But she still missed dinner, and with the it the sorting of the few new students. Ah well, she figured, better this way. She ran into Professor Flitwick on the way and he told her to report to the Headmisterss' office. She did and got a slightly hastled Headmistress who dumped the hat on her head long enough for it to place her in Slytherin and then sent her off to her dorm with some directions and a password. She felt a little hastled but at least no one so far had tried small talk. Which made her much happier, all things considered.

As she made her way towards the dungeons, she noticed that there seemed to be a lack of older students in the halls. At least, the ones there were all seemed to be wearing Slytherin robes. She spent a moment wondering about it but decided to dismiss it for now. She wasn't about to go nosing into other peoples' business before she'd even unpacked. Instead, she walked the halls, her trunk trailing behind her like a faithful puppy. Her pet raven sat on her shoulder, which surprised her a bit. She thought he'd gone off to find a roost but she could guess that the owls had rejected him. His presence reassured her and she reached up to gently stroke the soft feathers on his head, smiling a little, "Sorry, Strange. I hope your rejection doesn't bode rejection for me." The raven rubbed against her neck reassuringly, cawing something in his raspy voice. She smiled, remembering how she'd found Strange as a baby. He'd fallen out of the nest, rejected by his mother for apparent weakness. She'd felt for him and taken him home. Since then, he'd been with her. Granted, ravens weren't typical messanger birds, but they could go places and at times when when an owl would have stood out. She continued to speak softly to him as she followed the professor's directions to her new dorm. She wondered if it being in the dungeon meant it was going to be damp.
