Who:Sirius Black & Michael Dios
When:Tuesday, December 16 just after 9am
Where:Hogwarts!
What:Sirius shows up to explain why Will is not able to make his training session
*Michael*
Stretching out, he glanced at his watch again, frowning a bit at the time. It wasn't like Mallory to be late, not that he minded. The more loose he got before the other boy got that, the less likely he was going to make snide comments because of a uncontrolled flinch. And if he didn't show up at all... Well, even better. It wouldn't be his fault is Mallory couldn't keep track of days and time.
*Sirius*
He pushed the door open. He hadn't slept much, what with helping transport the children back, giving statements to his Aurors and then everything else, but Remus had kicked him out of bed to tell Michael what had happened.
"Hey Michael."
*Michael*
Jumping in surprise, he looked up and turned towards Sirius. Not seeing Mallory with him at all, he quirked an eyebrow as he got to his feet.
"Are ya here to supervise today or did Mallory chicken out of his training?"
*Sirius*
"William's in the States, recovering from a wound. Have you talked to Cho recently?" he asked, not sure how much Michael knew.
: *Michael*
His eyes widened in surprise before he frowned and shook his head.
"Not in a few days... Why? Is she ok?" he asked worriedly.
*Sirius*
"She's fine. Well, physically. One of her friends, a Ravenclaw named Su Li and Sven were being held in the US department of Magic in Los Angeles. Cho, William, Kat and Alex went in to rescue them. Su Li died during the rescue. She was pretty close when they got there apparently. William got injured, so he's staying for a few days in the states to recover," he explained.
*Michael*
His brow furrowed as he stared at Sirius, not fully believing what he was hearing.
"You guys broke into the Department? That... Isn't that a bit extreme? If the department was holding them, it must have been for a reason."
*Sirius*
"They were drugging them and experimenting on them," he said simply.
*Michael*
He frowned more as he shook his head.
"That doesn't sound like the Department... Are ya sure they hadn't gotten in some trouble with them? I mean, this is Sven you're talking about."
*Sirius*
He sighed, too tired to get into an argument about it.
"Look, ask Cho about it if you want. I was just the distraction," he said.
"William should be recovered enough for your session next week. "
*Michael*
He looked curiously at Sirius.
"So, our session for this week is cancelled then?"
*Sirius*
"Yeah, seeing as he can't exactly train with a bullet hole in his chest," he explained.
*Michael*
His eyebrows raised in surprise before he let out a wry chuckled and shook his head.
"Leave it to Mallory to actually get hurt before the training. Although I have to say a bullet hole is definitely a new one."
*Sirius*
He gave Michael a look.
"Damian Harris shot him in the chest with a silver bullet. He's lucky to be alive, Michael. And I think rescuing his kidnapped fiance is more than an apt excuse for missing training. "
*Michael*
He blinked in surprise as he stared at Sirius.
"Harris? What the hell part of the Department were you in?"
*Sirius*
"Research and Development, that's where they were being kept..." he explained.
*Michael*
He shook his head as he frowned.
"Why would they have taken them?" he asked before sighing and rolling his eyes. "I know, I know, ask Cho, she'll explain or some crap like that."
*Sirius*
He sighed.
"They were doing experiments on Su's blood. And I think they were experimenting on Sven's changeling abilities, but I'm not sure, he was still out of it when I left the states," he exxplained.
*Michael*
He shifted uncomfortably, not likely the idea of Sven getting experimented on or the idea of blood magic, especially if the experiments with it caused the girl to die.
"I see..." he said, not sure what else to say considering the situation.
*Sirius*
He nodded.
"So, you've no session with William this week. You might want to go see Cho. She probably would like having you around right about now.."
*Michael*
He snorted.
"Well, at least one good thing has come from this mess," he said before nodding slowly. "I'll have to check on my training schedule."
*Sirius*
He raised an eyebrow at Michael.
"Are you and Cho doing alright?"
*Michael*
Looking at Sirius as if he'd grown another head, he nodded.
"Yeah, we're alright. Why wouldn't we be?" he asked curiously, wondering if something more had happened at this grand rescue.
*Sirius*
"Nothing, just curious. I do worry about you sometimes," he said simply.
*Michael*
He couldn't help studying Sirius a bit warily before shaking his head.
"There's no need to worry. Training's just been keeping me busy."
*Sirius*
"Of course," he said simply with a sigh.
"Well, I should get going and let you enjoy your free time."
[
*Michael*
He nodded as he went back to studying Sirius, though more worriedly than warily than before.
"Are ya alright? I mean other than the obvious of not being employed and this rescue thing."
*Sirius*
He nodded, figuring there was no need to tell Michael what he'd done as a distraction, even if he was actually tempted to follow through on it.
"Just trying not to be bored out of my mind," he said with a smile.
*Michael*
He rolled his eyes slightly before giving Sirius a look.
"Considering what you've been up to, I'd be surprised if ya were bored. Besides, I'm sure Remus is keeping ya occupied."
*Sirius*
He gave Michael a look.
"Not like you'd think. Mostly just researching stuff lately," he admited.
*Michael*
He quirked an eyebrow.
"Researching stuff? Like what?"
*SIrius*
"Alternate realities and universes, mostly," he said with a shrug.
*Michael*
He frowned slightly, thinking it an odd topic until he remembered Maria.'
"Trying to figure out how to get Sven's sister back?" he asked, not sure if that was entirely a good idea considering how she usually treated him.
*Sirius*
He nodded.
"We haven't had much luck on that yet.. on getting her back, that is.."
*Michael*
He frowned a bit at the wording.
"What have ya had luck with then?"
*SIrius*
He sighed and leaned against the wall.
"There was another reason for breaking into the Ministry," he said simply, but his tone implied there was more to the story.
*Michael*
He frowned more as he looked curiously at Sirius.
"Something about parallel worlds and other dimensions I take it. Otherwise this is a really lame train of thought."
*Sirius*
"This is all confidential stuff. Damian's group has made technology to go between the realites," he explained. "They ended up bringing in Sven from another world, but he escaped. That's why Sven was kidnapped."
He paused and sighed.
"The Sven from the other world, Koda, needed to be sent back to his world, so we did that while we were at the Ministry, well, Whedon did. But he also damaged the technology. And we don't know exactly where Maria is, so we don't know how to get there, even if we could break in to the Ministry again and find someone to run the equipment for us.
*Michael*
He stared at Sirius for a long moment, wondering if he was making this all up as a joke. But it was too far fetched to be a joke and didn't really affect anyone enough to be a good joke at that.
"So... No one else should be coming through whatever they had there then?"
*Sirius*
"Hopefully. We don't know how badly WHedon damaged it," he explained.
*Michael*
He nodded as he huffed out a long sigh.
"Sounds like you guys had a big adventure then."
*SIrius*
He chuckled.
"All I did was walk in the front door and apply for a job. Not that exciting," he said.
*Michael*
His eyebrows rose before he broke down laughing.
"You applied for a job at the Department of Magic? You're kidding me, right?"
*Sirius*
"Well, it was mostly to be a distraction, but the salary's good and I might actually consider it.." he admitted with a shrug.
*Michael*
He looked even more surprised at this.
"They actually offered ya a job? Really? Gods, they must be desperate..."
*Sirius*
"Apparently I have some skills and talents they want," he said with a shrug.
*Michael*
He frowned slightly before shrugging himself.
"Well, yeah... But well... I mean, ya just helped to break into their Department. Ya can't really have Aurors going 'round doing that..."
*Sirius*
"It was for special forces and research and development," he explained.
*Michael*
"What?! You'd be working with Harris? Are you insane? Ya can't possibly be considering working for him!" he blurted out as his eyes went wide.
*Sirius*
He raised an eyebrow.
"Sometimes it's best to know your enemy," he said simply, somewhat surprised by this outburst.
*Michael*
He rolled his eyes before scowling at Sirius.
"There's a difference between knowing your enemy and working for 'em. Ya just rescued people from their branch and you're willing to sign up and do the experimenting yourself?"
*SIrisu*
"I said I was considering it. And I wouldn't do anything that was against my moral standards," he said.
*Michael*
He let out a short laugh as he went to gather his stuff.
"In case ya haven't noticed, your moral standards are a bit skewed compared to everyone else's."
: *SIrius*
"Well, I wouldn't consent to doing anyhting on dark creatures," he said plainly.
*Michael*
He shook his head before he gave Sirius a look.
"Considering what ya just 'saved' Sven from, I think ya got your answer about working there."
: *Sirius*
He raised an eyebrow at Michael.
"So, do you support the dark creature registration act?" he asked.
"Goes into effect on New Years.
*Michael*
Tensing, he breathed out a tired sigh, knowing full well where Sirius stood on the subject.
"It's what the country needs right now... It isn't that bad, just extending the werewolf registration to cover all dark creatures, but it's just that. It's like social security numbers in the States. It'll just be a record of everyone, in case something horrible like the Calling should happen again."
*Sirius*
"Keep telling yourself that, Michael, to me it sounds like something Damian would do.." he said simply.
*Michael*
His fists clenching at his side, his jaw tightened as he glared at Sirius.
"It is nothing like Harris would do. It's only a registry, we're not locking up everyone who comes in. People need to feel safe and this will help. Rufus wouldn't do anything that would hurt people, let alone his niece and.. and nephew..."
*Sirius*
He rolled his eyes.
"He put out an arrest warrant for his niece and his nephew is dead," he said.
"It's a mandatory registry - with tracking.."
*Michael*
He huffed out a sigh.
"Only because his niece has broken the law. The act was announced before either had happened, we've talked about it. He wouldn't hurt them, but he can't help it if things out of his hands happen. And what is so bad about that? What is so bad about knowing where we may have to send Aurors if something bad were to happen? Would ya prefer that people got hurt?"
*SIrius*
"So all dark creatures are bad? That's a half step from doing experiments on their blood!" he snapped.
*Michael*
He growled in aggravation as he shook his head.
"That isn't what I said! They aren't all bad, but they're called dark creatures for a reason! There is something dark and bad in them and it can be used to do harm. If ya don't agree, then why don't ya have Remus go off his wolfsbane for a full moon and stay human with him? Show how much your Moony loves ya. Not everyone had the benefit of wolfsbane or the like to keep them safe. People have a right to know if they're safe where they live or if they need to stay inside during a full moon because there's a wild werewolf around."
*Sirius*
He growled and spun on Michael, fists clenched at his side.
"Perhaps we should spend the time and money on perfecting a wolfsbane potion that doesn't poison the drinker slowly!" he snapped. "And grant access to all werewolves to it. "
*Michael*
Standing his ground against the older man, he glared as his body shifted into a ready stance, knowing how Sirius' temper flared and having been on the bad end of an attack before.
"And if we have all the werewolves registered, we'll be able to actually know how much to budget and how much potion would be needed to help them all and prevent new ones from being created! There are few people who can even brew the potion and you want to have a team doing research?"
Breathing out a sigh, he shook his head before his look turned a bit sad.
"Sirius, this is going to happen whether ya like it or not, but it can do good... If you keep going like this, ya could end up worse than fired..."
*Sirius*
He scoffed.
"I'll believe that when I see it," he said with a laugh.
"What matters more is how Remus and Sven end up because of this," he said as he turned on his heel and headed for the door, knowing he'd loose his cool if he stayed any longer.
*Michael*
Breathing out a tired sigh, he watched Sirius go before shaking his head. He hadn't really expected Sirius to see the good in it, but still... Picking up all his stuff, he almost wished that Will had shown up after all. There was at least some satisfaction in beating the shit out of him.
