thurs, nov 6, late late night, the cottage in Wales

Jun 14, 2006 09:34

Who: Sirius and Remus
When: Thursday, November 6 late late night
Where: Their cottage in Wales
What: A bit of a reconciliation and a smoke

*Sirius*
He parked the motorcycle and took a final drag on the cigarette before putting it out and looking up at the stars. He was home late. Again. Shaking his head, he went into the cottage and threw his leather jacket over the sofa, wanting nothing more than a hot shower, maybe some cuddling and to pass out.
"Moony? You here?"

*Remus*
Hearing the motorcycle pull up to the cottage, he breathed a sigh of relief before taking another drag of his cigarette. At least he didn't pull a full all-nighter at the office. Tapping off the ashes from the cigarette into the ashtray he brought out this time, he smiled softly when he heard Sirius call out his nickname.
"I'm out back, Padfoot," he answered back.

*Sirius*
He made his way through the house and sat down next to Remus.
"It's a bad day when you're out here smoking," he said quietly.

*Remus*
He chuckled softly as he rolled the cigarette between his fingers idly.
"You had me worried," he replied softly. "It helps a bit with the pain as well."

*Sirius*
He chuckled.
"What I wouldn't do for some gillyweed and firewhiskey right now," he teased before looking at Remus with concern.
"How bad's the pain?" he asked worriedly.

*Remus*
He laughed as he shook his head.
"Thank the gods you don't have gillyweed. I do not need you philosophizing about the spaces between the air and colors and such," he teased back before shifting slightly and making a face. "It is a bit sore and stiff, but it isn't that bad. Mostly a dull ache."
He smirked wryly at Sirius.
"I've been in worse pain."

*Sirius*
"So have I... doesn't mean I enjoy the feel..." he said, smiling weakly at Remus.
"How was Will?"

*Remus*
He rolled his eyes slightly before sighing.
"He was good. He was worried about my well-being nearly as much as you were and told me what happened last night easily. So, you can stop worrying now about whatever stress he was going to put on me."

*Sirius*
He rolled his eyes.
"Fine. Still say it would have been easier without him," he said.
"What did he say happened last night?”

*Remus*
He sighed before taking a drag of his cigarette.
"And I say that you underestimate both of us, Padfoot," he said softly before sighing and thinking back to his conversation with Will. "Tom Riddle is back... He's in Cade Fawkes' body. He was a Ravenclaw... I think a year ahead of Harry..."
He sighed as he ran a hand over his eyes.
"His hand wasn't silver like the boy from the beginning of the school year, but Will said that there were runes on Cade's body and that when they were severed, he got weaker and disappeared."

*Sirius*
He ran his hand over the runic tattoos covering his chest and stomach.
"Do they know what kind of runes? They're going to question him. Probably this Byrne woman. She seems to be liaising. Rufus isn't thrilled about it, but we have our hands full.." he said.

*Remus*
He shook his head.
"They didn't get a good luck at them. William said they were planning on getting together to see what they piece together, but that's it."
Sighing again, he ran a hand over his face.
"He suspected he may be questioned, but if they are sending another agent, he may prove difficult.... He told me that he'd only talk to you and only if I'm there as well..."

*Sirius*
He ran a hand over his head.
"I'll see what I can do. I can't guarantee anything, but I'll see," he said tiredly.
"Rufus will want to know this. Should probably just go interrogate the both of them and give Rufus my report."

*Remus*
He nodded as he sighed.
"Even if you can't interrogate him, William wants me there. For security and such..."

*Sirius*
He nodded.
"I'll see what I can do. Maybe we can go interrogate them in the morning. Spare Byrne the trouble," he said as he ran a hand through his hair and pulling out his pack of smokes, pulling out the last one and lighting it. He swore there was a full pack this morning. Damn, had he really smoke a whole pack.
"Will he behave with you there? If he loses it, and attacks a Ministry official, or doesn't fully cooperate... he's a good kid, but all the Ministry cares about is his record. And Rufus has asked about him occasionally... think he doesn't like how his trial went." .

*Remus*
Sighing, he shrugged before taking another drag of his cigarette.
"I don't know, Sirius... He should behave, but you also know how he is. He wants to do the right thing and be good, but there are still buttons that he has that he can't control his reaction for. Maybe... If I vouch for him, he may act better. He'll be more careful if he thinks that it is my neck on the line rather than his own..."

*Sirius*
He chuckled before taking another drag.
"Damned martyr complex of his," he teased. "I'd like to do it in the morning tomorrow. Would that be too much for you? To go up there?"

*Remus*
He nodded as he stretched out his leg a bit with a wince.
"I should be fine, Padfoot. I can handle going up there."
He smirked slightly.
"As long as you do not tear out William's throat during the interrogation."

*Sirius*
He chuckled.
"I promise not to morph into padfoot and rip out his throat," he teased.

*Remus*
Chuckling, he shook his head.
"And how about in human form? Do you promise not to rip out his throat then as well?"

*Sirius*
"I might rough him up if he's difficult, but I won't rip out his throat," he said with a smirk as he took a drag.

*Remus*
Chuckling, he shook his head again before taking one last drag and stamping out his cigarette.
"You're incorrigible, Padfoot," he teased softly.

*Sirius*
He smiled.
"And that's why you love me and can't get enough.." he teased, staring up at the stars and taking another drag.

*Remus*
He laughed as he looked up at the stars at well.
"Yes, even when you are an insufferable git," he teased.

*Sirius*
He smiled.
"Well, I'm glad you put up with me," he teased.
He sighed as he stretched out, looking up at the stars and took another drag.
"Went through a whole damned pack of these today..." he said quietly.

*Remus*
Moving the ash tray so that it was between the two of them, he smiled softly.
"That's understandable. How was everything at the Ministry?"

*Sirius*
"Rufus tried for a vote of no confidence in Umbridge today. He got the ministership split. Between debriefings, paperwork, trying to get him information... I left early..." he said tiredly.

*Remus*
He raised his eyebrows in shock.
"Really? That is certainly... unusual... Though I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing..."

*Sirius*
"He's a hardass, but anybody's better than Umbridge.." he teased.

*Remus*
He chuckled.
"Yes, that is true. Though I'm not sure if he would stop what Umbridge is doing up in the north or just continue."

*Sirius*
He sighed.
"I don't know. I could try.. see if I could become an advisor of his... but ˆ don't know"

*Remus*
Shaking his head, he sighed.
"I'd prefer you to be at home than to be spending more hours at the Ministry trying to out muscle Rufus over a matter that he may have his mind completely set on."

*Sirius*
"I'll have a word with Alessandra," he said tiredly.
"See if she can't bend his ear."

*Remus*
He quirked an eyebrow at Sirius, knowing some of the rumors that circulated Rufus' new wife, especially regarding business 'talks'.
"I imagine she'll only help in bending his ear if she agrees with your views."

*Sirius*
"Hopefully she does," he said tiredly.
"Don't look at me like that. I'm not going to shag Rufus' wife."

*Remus*
He looked a bit ashamed before rolling his eyes a bit.
"She does have a reputation, Sirius."

*Sirius*
"And there's only one person I want to shag, male or female," he teased. "I know her reputation. Who doesn't?"

*Remus*
"To say her husband would be a great insult to him."
Smirking, he looked slyly at Sirius.
"Oh? And how is this person? Have I met him or her?"

*Sirius*
He chuckled.
"I believe you're well acquainted with him," he teased. "Though he should be in bed resting at the moment..."

*Remus*
He rolled his eyes slightly.
"I'm sure that he feels you worry too much over him," he teased back. "He probably also can't help being worry about you, especially considering the state that you stormed out in."

*sirius*
"Tell him I'm sorry... But I already lost him and put him through hell once. Don't want him to suffer or hurt any more than necessary.." he said, reaching over to run a hand through Moony's hair.

*Remus*
He smiled softly as he looked over at Sirius.
"He knows. He feels the same way about you too," he said softly.

*Sirius*
He smiled as he took a final drag before putting out the cigarette.
"What say he and I go and take a nap. I'm exhausted.."

*Remus*
He smiled softly as he grabbed his cane and mentally prepared himself to stand up.
"He think that sounds like a wonderful idea. Even if he and you reek of smoke."

*Sirius*
"We could shower first," he teased as he stood up and held a hand out to Remus.

*Remus*
Taking Sirius' hand, he made a face as he pulled himself up with the help of Sirius and the cane.
"I think I would prefer a bath..." he said softly.

*Sirius*
Scooping Remus up in his harms, he chuckled.
"A bath it is then," he said, maneuvering Remus inside and too the bathroom slowly.

*Remus*
Dropping his cane a bit in surprise, he wrapped his arms around Sirius' neck. He rolled his eyes half-heartedly before giving Sirius as much of a stern glare as he could manage.
"You don't have to do this. You were injured in the battle as well..."

*Sirius*
He chuckled.
"Yeah, but not with silver bullets that I'm allergic too.." he teased as he made it into the bathroom and set Remus down on the toilet and bent down to fill up the tub.

*Remus*
He rolled his eyes this time a bit more in earnest.
"I would have been amazed if they had gotten silver bullets into Azkaban."
He smirked slightly.
"I wouldn't have been in such bad shape if the Ministry didn't issue its Aurors silver daggers," he teased softly.

*Sirius*
"Precaution, you understand. Next time you can stay home. Or go to Hogwarts, take over my duties there..." he said as he made sure the water was the right temperature before pulling Remus' sweater off the man.

*Remus*
He rolled his eyes as he let Sirius take off his sweater.
"You know that I would not have stayed at home while you were off at Azkaban."
He gave Sirius a stern look.
"And if you had told me to go to Hogwarts to babysit, I would have been horribly cross at you."

*Sirius*
"But at least you would have kept all the students at the school. Too many escaped and got into trouble. Rufus could have my head for that if he wanted to. I may very well have Davon's.." he said tiredly as he unbuttoned Remus shirt and slid it off before undoing his husbands belt and trousers.
"You need to stand up. Can't get these off while you're sitting."

*Remus*
Balancing himself against the sink counter, he made a face as he hoisted himself up.
"Well... Davon has never been good at keeping people under control. Remember last year when him and Jen were always on duty to watch Sven and Will?"

*Sirius*
He sent Remus a worried glance at the expression he saw before tugging down his trousers.
"Sit," he said softly, taking them off all the way before gingerly unwrapping the bandages on Remus leg and setting them on the sink. Gingerly, he hoisted Remus up and depositing him gently in the bathtub.
"There was no one else to put in charge.." he said tiredly as he stripped off his shirt and trousers, dropping them haphazardly on the floor.

*Remus*
Hissing in a breath as the water touched the cuts, he closed his eyes as his leg reflexively jerked upwards. Blowing out a slow breath, he slowly relaxed back into the water before sighing and looking up at Sirius.
"I know... And anyone who you would want to put in charge, you would prefer having fighting by your side."

*Sirius*
"Exactly," he said as he undid the bandages on his midsection, poking at the somewhat healed cuts before sliding into the water behind Remus and wrapping his arms around the other man.
"Doesn't matter now, though..." 'he said tiredly.

*Remus*
Leaning back against Sirius, he sighed softly.
"No... It doesn't. Though you shouldn't poke the cuts like that. You'll only make them worse."

*Sirius*
"I like poking them," he said, sounding quite like a five year old as he leaned his head back, glad the bathtub was big enough for two.
"Is the water too hot?"

*Remus*
He made a face as he rolled his eyes.
"You'll only make them scar that way. Not to mention Jane will be cross at both you and me for it."
Leaning heavier back against Sirius, he shook his head.
"No. It's perfect."
