Got a bunch of new toys!

I just recently bought a Kyocera 6032 (old palmpilot/cell phone combo). I got it from Ebay and I had some trouble getting it set up. I had to get an unlock code from the old provider. Fortunately my brother had an account with them and he was able to get the code from the Web page. So now it's activated on my network, but SMS won't work. It just does nothing when you send it an SMS, and it has no ability to send messages itself.

I called the phone company and some incompetent guy spent some time trying to get MSN Mobile working, not SMS. AARGH! Idiots.

I spent an hour up at the phone store trying to get one of their employees to get it working. He was very helpful, but he was wading constantly through other people's voice mail mazes and getting nowhere. He found out what the guy on the phone had been doing (bloody MSN) and tried to get the programming department to set up the phone properly, but apparently it's properly set up already. I hear it may need a firmware upgrade, but this guy didn't even know what firmware was. He recommended that I call the manufacturer. So I will.

I also got a used motherboard, CPU and hard drive from VFXweb.com. They were poorly packaged, and I was careless taking the motherboard out of the package, and I accidentally zapped it :(

I haven't set it up yet, but I'm afraid to now.

I also tried to buy a 4 MB memory upgrade for my crappy old printer on Ebay, but after I sent the guy the money, I didn't hear anything back. This was a few days ago and I'm getting worried. Now, he has a 100% feedback rating on Ebay, so I hope it's just a mixup. Paypal was down for maintenance right after I sent the money, so maybe that's causing the delay. I hope I get this worked out. I really need to be able to print more complex documents for school.
