Always the best of, of course. Intentions. Not goals. And thus failure is not so big a deal.
Most of these will be far more easily accomplished once I finally graduate and get rid of all these classes and assorted academic activities that eat my evenings and weekends... but there’s no reason I shouldn’t attempt a few of them right here, right now.
Print all those pictures on my hard drive.
Scan all those pictures not on my hard drive.
Buy toys for my office. I’m thinking Lite Brite, Etch-a-Sketch, kaleidoscopes, feats of Lego and/or Tinker Toy engineering, Play-Doh or Silly Putty, catapults and other miniature instruments of warfare, etc. Additional suggestions welcome.
Set up an easel and finger paint on the shores of a lake, river, and/or other body of water (swimming and wading pools will be considered based upon their amusement potential). Beret and snooty French accent are optional.
Send more cards.
Be able to once again hit the floor while dancing.
Take belly dancing lessons.
Dance often and hard.
Laugh often and mean it.
Engage in more random acts of gift giving.
Successfully grow irises and lupines.
Stand in the wind and the rain more often.
Chase a storm.
Hula hoop successfully.
Fold paper cranes. Or some other cutesy origami figures. (More on the reasons behind this after I learn how.)
Yo-yo for at least 10 seconds at a stretch without messing it up.
Finish grad school.
Get a passport and USE it.
Write derivative fiction retelling Oedipus Rex (Sophocles’ version) from Jocasta’s point of view.
Publish a book with an official (non-vanity) publishing house.
Eat at Chez Philippe in the Peabody.
Attend an event that would require the donning of a cocktail dress... and feel comfortable in my skin while wearing it.
Walk in heels without wobbling.
Eat sushi… and be sure that what I’m eating is sushi and not just make a guess about some mystery food foisted on me.
Learn to cook beyond boiling water and operating a microwave.
Go back to Seattle, do the city properly, and share it with those I love.
Ride in a water taxi.
Learn at least the rudiments of a martial art. Also web design. No relation there whatsoever.
Buy a painting from a real gallery.
Commission a piece of artwork or jewelry.
Go whale watching.
Visit Crater Lake in Oregon.
Eat clam chowder somewhere in New England.
See the Appalachians in the fall.
See all those obscure bands and singer/songwriters I love play live.
Have bands play private sessions in my home.
Attend a real auction. Maybe buy something.
Learn how to use chopsticks.
Be braver and stop hiding quite so much.
Let go of at least a few of the little things.
Love without expectations. (Unconditional positive regard, wooooooo!)
Smile at more strangers. The discomfort is good for them.
All other things as they come to me.
