Oy. It looks like it's not John C. Wright's attention I caught, but our old friend fpb, who still posts on my LJ while swearing that he's never going to post here again, and now apparently goes yipping to his online friends to try to get them to flame me so he can pretend he's sticking to his resolution.

fpb has never been a careful reader either.

No, gentlemen (I'm talking to fpb and johncwright here - and being generous in calling you "gentlemen"), neither I nor James Bradley claim that America was to blame for the Japanese sneak attack or that the genocide of Native Americans means the white man is always wrong.

Also, I admire a lot of what Richard Dawkins does, but he's not my "hero" (in fact, I think he's kind of a jerk).

Jeebus, if you're going to snipe at me, at least snipe at me for things I've actually said, Cranky McGrudgeypants.

What books of Dawkins's would you recommend? I've kind of been meaning to pick up The Selfish Gene for a little while, but are there any others worth checking out?

I have read The God Delusion and assumed, based on the acclaim that man gets, that it was an off-note targeted to the talk-show host audience.

Ironically enough, I haven't read any of Dawkin's books. It's his activism on behalf of atheists (and being a lightning rod) that I respect. As an individual, I think he's a bit of a cranky old man and I'm not enamored of his investment in evolutionary psychology.

The amount of your sins against history in this appalling entry does not begin to be exhausted with what you CLAIM not to have done. I will deal with it in my LJ - if I can summon up the patience. As for the author, I have no words to describe him. And as for being in favour of Richard Dawkins just because he is a mean-minded preacher of hatred, while disliking him because he is a mean-minded preacher of hatred - do I even have to point out how screwed up that is? And it is you who called him one of your heroes.

As for your pathetic gag and the very unfunny funny, is your experience of me so defective that you imagine I won't fight my own battles? Or that, if I were, that I am so entirely stupid as to do so in a place where you can read it? For that insult to my intelligence, alone, I would require an apology. My reason to involve Wright is simply that I had come in to his blog while so upset and disgusted by yours that I had to say something or burst. But don't worry, I am entirely capable of showing your racism, ignorance, arrogance, moral-equivalence merchantry and unhistorical prejudice on my own. My only problem is that it disgusts me.
