I'm in it for the hilarious snark and the characters (including Alan, who is basically a heroic version of Light Yagami in a world where everyone else's motivations are painfully straightforward). This isn't Twilight; there's engaging plot from start to finish, each story is a contained unit fitting into a larger arc, and there are genuinely surprising moments (including a number of great double-twists).

But yeah, there's a fair amount of makeouts, and it's definitely marketed toward girls. I guess I'm just desensitized after having been reading fanfiction so long, but if you find those elements to be a deal-breaker, I respect that.
