You'll learn more about Cultures eventually. It's one of those things Alexandra hasn't been paying as much attention to as she should.

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in the books that Thestrals are attracted to the smell of blood and eat carrion, but I did elaborate on their nature somewhat.

Yes, in OOtP, we learn that they eat carrion, and are attracted to the smell of blood, even licking it off Harray and Hermione's robes. However, drinking blood is your elaboration.

By the way, I am conncerned that Alex did not prepare a no cross line of magical sand to prevent an evetual jibay from roaming the stables.

It felt a bit clunky when Alex noticed that the Dean was holding Galen again.

So I'm giving up my 'Darla is Alex from the future in disguise' pet theory, but I'm taking up a new one - Galen is Thorn in animagus form. It would definitely explain how he knows so much about what's going on on campus and how he sneaks in and out (plus it would mirror HP&PoA).

-So this is real life...

PS: Yeah, I just realized that the subject is a little pun-ny
