While you can likely guess my views on immigration policy, one of the main flaws I see with the way the mainstream left currently thinks of the issue is they (we?) focus almost exclusively on accepting immigrants into our country when they're here. While that's obviously important, it often ignores the fact that many of them don't actually want to leave their home countries, but they *have* to, due to war, poverty, etc.--factors that are often caused or exacerbated by our own country's policies.

So I guess I want to ask, do any of the anthology's stories focus on the fact that leaving one's home for a foreign land is *itself* often traumatic, regardless of whether or not you're accepted by the place you immigrate to?

A lot of the stories did focus on the trauma of being forced to leave one's home, yes.
