If you like hard scifi based on biology, you should read "Blindsight" by Peter Watts, and the sequel, "Echopraxia." The aliens in these books are EXTREMELY alien. Not only in biology, either, though that's pretty awesome an unexpected too; the coolest part is... well, I'll not spoil it. Let's ( ... )

I've read Blindsight. I have been meaning to read more by Peter Watts and Greg Bear.

The War Against the Chtorr series has been around forever, though I don't think I've read any of them.
