The Newsflesh trilogy ends with more conspiracies, and the squickiest part is not what you think. (Or maybe it is.)

I disagree that Grant dislikes scientists. it seems she likes them quite a lot (as Kellis Amberlee is quite distinctly the road to hell paved with good intentions). it is clear that she doesn't like politics/power affecting science.

but really, I commented to say that my biggest issue with the incestuous necrophiliac twist was that it was too convenient as a plot point. it was vaguely hinted at, but we spent well over 1000 pages in these kids' heads, and neither of them acknowledges this relationship once - even in their THOUGHTS - until they have to prove Georgia is "real" when, LOL, they have to tell all their friends. it's like Grant wasn't going to go there and then went there because she couldn't come up with a better secret.

for me this took away quite a bit from my overall impression of the book. I really liked the series on the whole, but this just required my imagination to stretch a bit too far.

There is something I don't get? Am I weird or I'm not bothered by the fact that Shaun is batshit crazy and that deals with it by having a close relationship with his adopted sister (no close genetic relationship no foul or stupid kids). And yes, I saw it coming in book one with the direct access to the rooms ( ... )

If adopted siblings who are old enough to consent want to have a sexual relationship, I would not condemn them, though I would consider it probably indicative of a seriously dysfunctional upbringing and/or mental illness. If you grow up with someone as a sibling (genetically related or not), it's just not healthy to make that shift to seeing them as sexual partners. So yeah, it was proof that Shaun and George were pretty fucked up in the head.
