Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty as Charlie's Angels - it's actually not as dumb as it sounds.

This sounds really awesome. I'll have to track this one down. Confession: I'm a feminist who occasionally indulges in Disney movies. I love the music and the nostalgia.

you don't need to write a damn rules manual to make magic interesting and internally consistent while serving the needs of the plot.

Authors should write those for themselves if they need to and keep them in their notebook(s). That way, it stays consistent without overwhelming the readers. Didn't J. K. Rowling do that?

Now part of me wonders if Hines took the name Danielle from Ever After... If so, I love the reference. :)

I have always loved his books. I stumbled on the Goblin series of his first, back when it was relatively new, and then this book, and finally his blog, which I love to death. I'm pretty sure I'd take a chance on anything of his (I've also bought his self-done Kindle stories, and enjoyed them). Nice to know you enjoyed them too! I lurk a lot, and enjoy reading your reviews (and more recently, your stories, which I haven't yet had a chance to comment on, but plan on doing eventually :) ).

I have been meaning to read this for awhile, but somehow the cover always turned me off (I think because it makes me think of a comic/manga instead of an actual novel?), and the reviews I read never really got me fired up. Now, though, I think I'm going to have to read it. This does look quite good. I have always enjoyed the Disney movies, and I do enjoy retellings, and Once Upon a Time is one of my current obsessions at the moment, so I'm really keyed up for this book now.

Oh, a very nice review. I've read the entire series, and loved it. Trust me, it gets less Disney-like from here on out, and in a good way.

Wow, that cover probably scares off a good many readers who would otherwise enjoy the story. If I ever come across it I'll give it a read. I've managed to find a couple you've reviewed at the library. Fables, I've been thinking about giving those a reread, I'm a few books behind now. Thank goodness for sister in laws who collect graphic novels for me to borrow.
