I rather liked this chapter. The killer Clockworks (and yes, I share your rage at JKR's inconsistent Potterwords capitalisation) were interesting villains in that they couldn't truly be held responsible for their actions. I do wonder, though, if you have any head canon reminiscent of the Three Laws regarding AI, which I suppose this is as close to AI robots as I've seen in HP fanfic.

I am still as of yet unsure whether Larry saved Alex from the Clockworks because he's a semi-decent person deep down or if he couldn't stand the thought of her dying while he was in her life-debt due to the almost-eaten-by-MommyGalen incident ( ... )

Lilith's reaction is quite reasonable, I think. Obviously she's hiding the truth from Alexandra, but a) Alexandra is 11 years old, and does not need to know what's going on, and b) Lilith no doubt fears that if she did tell her the truth, Alexandra would go straight after whoever Lilith suspected. All the while, she has to fight with the idea that Alexandra is not Hecate.
