I have actually read some of this book, earlier in the year. But I didn't actually finish it, which is kind of a bummer.. I'm sure it's around here somewhere (which is actually a bad thing since it was a library book. Its not like you have to return those things....)

I shall track it down and read it. :)

I was very good friends with a sociopath in my late teens to twenties, and I can tell you from experience that mild sociopaths, especially if intelligent, are not crazed killers. What they are is very ruthless people. Contrary to many claims, they do have softer emotions, and are quite capable of liking and even (a sort of) love. What they do not have is much in the way of empathy or sympathy, which means that given what THEY consider a good reason they are capable of extreme ruthlessness.

But they are not inherently evil. They just have less internal safeguards against becoming so.

And I still care for my old friend, and hope he is well.
