I'm not a liar, just the truth had gotten old...

I have decided to post more regularly on this ol' LJ. I don't think I have many friends on here atm though. Not like my old Cooptastic days :S

But I miss the LJ. Sooo.

SYDNEY:

Was amazing. So much fun. I flew down on Saturday 23rd and met Kim at Kellys pub in Newtown (with my big backpack and all) and we had many drinks til late in the evening when we finally dropped my bag off at hers & went to the Annandale to see Red Riders. It was absolutely packed but Matt had told the guy at the door that he was a photographer for MX so we got to go round the back and stand at the side of the stage where it was nice and roomy. We only caught about the last 2 songs of their set but it was great fun.

Then Sunday was Soundwave. After a hours of waiting in the hot sun (during which at one point we gave up & walked to the closest pub & drank many cold beers before returning) we finally got in only to find that City & Colour (who I really wanted to see) had been switched with some other band or something & I had basically missed the entire set. So we went & caught some MSI then found a spot to sit & whinge & watch the remaining few bands. Blah.

Then Monday night. Wow, I think the word 'unforgettable' was created for that night. We went to the Gaelic to see mewithoutYou, Kevine Devine & As Tall As Lions perform (as well as My American Heart & The Dear Hunter). It was the msot amazing intimate gig. The three bands we went to see all got in on each others sets and it was like one big acoustic jam. At one point during mwY set Aaron got out some food that they had been given and passed it around the audience. He even climbed the speakers to reach up & give it to the under 18s that were up on the mezzanine level. We have this on video if anyone wants to see it. All in all it was an amazing night I thought could never be equalled, until Wednesday night...

Wednesday night we went to see Manchester Orchestra at the Metro (supporting Clap Your Hands Say Yeah). We were right up the front underneath Andy Hull because the crowd wasn't very big during Man Orcs set (I don't think many people had heard of them which is a damn damn shame). It was so amazing, they played such a great set & when Andy sang his final amaaaazing notes I was actually shaking, lame I know, but it was that amazing. Then Kim & I went and sat outside at the bar because we didn't want CYHSY crazy jolly music breaking us from our deliciously sombre Manchester Orchestra mood. So we were sitting having some drinks by ourselves in the bar & the guys from Man Orc walk out & I proceed to metaphorically shit my pants cos I'm a loser little fangirl. But yeah, after alot of courage building drinks, I went up and spoke to Andy Hull, just gushing about how talented he is. He was so humble and modest, he was amazing. Anyway so then we were really drunk & went next to door for Maccas & we were acting the fool & Chris the keyboardist was in the line behind us so yeah we found that funny..at the time...

Anyway, uhhh. Lots of other cool stuff happened that week. I bought a BEAUTIFUL new skateboard. A Powell Peralta reissue of the original 80s Ray Rodriguez Skull & Sword board. It's such a great board, I defz love it. Here is the deck bbys:

Plus we bought gazillions of comic books as I do when I go to Sydney & we got on the monorail & just went round and round in circles reading our comics. Plus on my 2nd trip to Kings Comics the really spunky guy at the counter didn't charge me for one of my ($35) books! Suhweet. I luuuh saving money.

Then Saturday Rosie invited me to see Ween at the Enmore. So that was so much fun. Then after the concert we went next door to the pub where I met this guy that lived in my house! This is way weirder to me than anyone else but I mean this is the house I grew up in, spent 10 years of my life there & of all the people in Sydney I run into the guy who moved in after! Weird! We talked about it for ages. He also happened to be friends with a very cute guy named Stewart.

Soo Sunday was Laneway which was amazing, as expected. Manchester Orchestra played another amazing set (which we were agaim right front and center for), plus Bridezillas were great most all the other bands too. Such a great atmosphere at that festival. Then we went for KFC & Purikura after that. Great times.

Theeeen, the next week I didn't really do much. Just was lazy & watched NCIS. I had dinner & drinks with the delicious aforementioned Stewart on Thursday which was pretty great. Then Friday I got to have dinner with my MILK!!! We went to a Japanese restaurant with Lindsbo & it was so delish! Then we went and did Purikura then we met up for coffee with Kaz & Rach & caught up which was awesome. Then went back to Milks & talked for a few hours then sleeeepppt. Then next day I got up & went to the airport & caught the plane home & slept alll night. Then woke up this morning & had to go to work :( It was good while it lasted.

So now I've got this stupid crush on this boy & it sucks cos I liked not thinking about anyone but myself. Selfish suits me better. Buuut you know, I'll probs get over it in a week anyway. But in the mean time, Sydney was amazing & I love my friends :)
