I thought my days of livejournaling were long over, but as it often does, life has a funny way of working out. I have moved so much over the course of the last year or so, I find it so hard to believe that I have managed to keep my head afloat. So, what all has happened?
Well, I was living out in Franklin, Indiana with a friend of mine named Brian. While I completely and utterly adore him, we were not suited to live together. His medical, mental and emotional needs had me so stressed out to the point where I would want nothing more than to lock myself in the bedroom to avoid him. Add the fact that I found myself being unable to see Malachi due to Brian's medical condition to the equation, and it had to change. From there I went to a house where I was paying $400 a week to rent a room. I shared the house with three people over the course of a few months. Mikey - a 30 year old child who spends his life mooching and using everyone he comes into contact with. Bryan - a 50 year old alcoholic and Danny - a 55 year old mooch. Not only did I pay my fair share of rent, I found myself being the only one who was providing food, doing the laundry, cleaning, dishes, etc. While I usually find enjoyment out of cleaning - being a neat freak and all - I found it irritating that not only was I paying rent, but also doing all the chores. The landlord came to us a few weeks ago and stated he was putting the house up for sale, for a price that was within my range, and I offered to buy it...only to have him sell it out from under me at a moments notice. Bastard.
So...where am I now? Living with my boyfriend, Phillip. Phillip is awesome. He is 34 (as of yesterday), sweet, caring, understanding, open minded, stubborn and complicated. While I admit that he has his flaws, I find most of his flaws completely adorable. We both usually become annoyed easily by other people, yet we have yet to get on each others nerves. The situation works out because we can both afford more while splitting the rent and utilities in half. Malachi completely adores him and actually asked me to keep him around and his 4 year old daughter absolutely adores me as well. Neither one of us can predict what the future holds, but we have both agreed that even if WE don't work out, we won't punish the children.
In other news, I finally started receiving my ssi. I got my first backpay check in the mail yesterday and got caught up on most of the bills plus had some extra spending money on top of it. My first monthly check starts in June.
Life couldn't be better. For the first time since I can remember, I find myself waking up with a smile.
