I found something wicked cool that was added to my collection.
This awesome Dragon Ball ad display from 2000 according to the copyright. The website is also present with bigger letters. Its considered the rarest piece in my collection. The ad is made from cardboard and 2 sided. One side has Super Saiyan Goku and the group shot on the other.
The ad does show some wear from display. I gathering that this one was hung with the hole at the top. These were used in stores to promote Dragon DVDS and VHS. Blockbuster, F.Y.E, and any other stores that sold DBZ used the ads to let customers know that DVDS and VHS were in that store.
What so exciting about a 2 sided piece of cardboard? Many of these are simply tossed into the trash after their use. No one saw any value of keeping pieces of cardboard. Most likely that this one survived by avoiding a date with destiny in a landfill is that hard core DBZ fan took it home. Any display of any kind are hard to come by. I didn't even know of the ad existence. The purchase took place at a video game store that I go it. I paid $35 for it. The collector value is hard to determine as they hardly come up for sale, even on Ebay. It's one of those items that a value is determined by the buyer because it doesn't havea set value.
It's a great piece and I love that it's in my collection. :)
