Dragon Age still owns my soul.

I bought the Dragon Age Dawn of the Seeker last week, but didn't get a chance to watch it until yesterday with Eric. I had been worried about it since it was anime-3D animation, and if I'm correct, done by the same company that did that gawd awful Appleseed 3D movie years ago. But I got an awesome Briareos figure, so I guess it was worth the expense of that horrible, horrible movie... not really, but I love my Briareos.

I was pleasantly surprised that the animation, though anime-esque, did not put me off. I had to hoped that the good people at Bioware would not just dump the plot on some Japanese fanboys and that the story would actually be cannon - which it is. I haven't watched the Japanese version of it yet, but the lip sync matched the English dialogue which was very cool. Since it's computer animation, I'm sure they could readjust it to fit the Japanese dialogue, I guess I'll see if I ever feel the need to watch it in Japanese.

I did order my copy of the Silent Grove graphic novel from the new comic shop in town, and have been pleasantly surprised to find the owner's girlfriend is a big fan, too. She and I did talk a little about it, her grip with the second Dragon Age game was that you couldn't pick a different race to play, but that actually doesn't bother me so much. I know it's a fantasy RPG, and most of us gamers like to pick different races to play, but most video games don't give you that option to play anything other than their main character. The fact you could pick a gender and a fighting class worked just fine for me. But I'm boring like that, I guess. Besides, they had a particular story they wanted to tell and it seemed to hing on it being around a particular family. I don't know that it would have worked out quite the same if you could have played a dwarf or an elf. But meh, like I said, I'm boring.

I believe the book should be arriving today, which is just freakin' perfect because Eric doesn't think he'll be home for lunch or dinner... so if I want the blood thing, I have to WALK! In the blistering heat, for over AN HOUR EACH WAY! *grumbles* I need a car.
