Aaaah gigs. Nothing better than playing a gig. Well, there is something better... it's playing a gig and actually like that. You could imagine how fucking happy I am to play two, on the same day, and walk away from both being completely 100% satisfied.
I had quite a good weekend on most accounts... minus some shit I wont get into. Had quite a good week leading up to it too. Quite a busy one. On Wednesday, I popped my ass along to Revolver and watched Australia's best metalcore band, in my opinion - Synthesist - destroy the place... when Dean (Vocals) finally showed up. Damn slack bastard. No, you can't use St. Pat's day and a Leprachaun tattoo on your leg as an excuse. Danced it up a little for Her Nightmare too and left midway through the Setup's set. Caught up with the Westside connection, and as always it was heaps 'o fun.
bodycage,
devoiid, Titsh, Age and my bro Dane were all out in full force. I'm sure there were other un-tuff cUNts there, but I can't remember. Oh yeah, I knew there were... the bizoys from Dear Lylith -
www.dearlylith.tk were there. Good to see them chaps too... not that I know 'em much, but radc0re guys. Hopefully be doin' a show or two with 'em in the future...
...Thursday, nothing. Friday... Westside return. We all mosey-on-downed to the Green Room to see Synthesist, again. Playing a rather difficult spot in between two awesome grind bands - The Day Everything Became Nothing and Fuck... I'm Dead, Synthesist put on a stellar performance... probably the best ever set I've seen them do. Was something in the air, I'm sure. Either that, or they had to raise a big middle finger to all the heckling fucks who hung shit on Pav (Guitars) for his Marshall quad fucking up before their set. The pit was brutal. I nearly got bashed by a drunk metal head for kicking him... all my bro's ran to my rescue. Awww the love! Then he apologised. And it was cool. And sheet. Lin acted all big brother like... and made me all proud and stuff. That's why no matter what people say about him, and no matter how much people hate him... I'll always love him like my best friend, and like my brother. He's there, in the end... for the people that really matter to him. Good to see a nice hardcore contingent represented at the gig too, especially with Her Nightmare/The Setup on over at Damnation on the same night. Represent y'fucks.
Saturday. I woke up, fucked. Went to Sunbury. Watched The August Reign... very nice set... I'm sure you guys would know, by the merch that was sold! Damn money stealing fuckers... we wanted to sell merch!! Hah. After that, a short set by Blunt... who actually pulled out, then ended up playing again. Then, Defect played. Ahh those kids. So ahead of their time. With so much confidence too... not arrogance, confidence. Sharpy (Vocals) is a born frontman... commanding all the extra-little kiddies to mosh up the front like a hand commands semen up the shaft of a throbbing cock. Or something. Awesome set. Then we played... to half the crowd. Guess we're not as sexy as Defect? Sigh. One day we will... or I will, or... stuff. I was too happy to care... the old Linden was back. The old Aaron was back, the old Jahred was back... and therefore, I was back. Linden screamed, sung and thrashed his ass off... Aaron spazed around like there was no tomorrow, and Jahred drummed till his itty bitty arms fell off. Good to see people singing our lyrics too... upon leaving, I was happy, but had no idea how we'd turn around and play a few hours later at Switch.
... expecting the worse, no crowd, no morale, no energy... we entered Switch. Doors open at 10:00 to the club, and we were on at 10:30... there's two other rooms people can enter. How the FUCK was there a full room for us?! A full room, comprising 80% unfimiliar faces. That's one way to a) Create morale b) Create energy and c) Create a crowd - haha. I think we may have just outdone Sunbury's performance. It left me fuckin' smiling, that's for sure... and if you know me, you know I never leave a gig without being a critical and whingy fuck. I just couldn't be happier. Thanks to all our friends who came out in show... boys from Synthesist, The Westside Crew, my bro Dane, and our other friends who came. You make me smile.
When I get pics from any of these... I'll post. They'll be stolen from unSheri of course.
Bye 'n shit.
