Well I'm not gonna scold him until he's recovered, but he did disobey direct orders not to go into Rukongai, especially alone. I can't not punish him, but nobody's getting expunged, if that's what you're asking.

Yeah, that's what I meant. He's not a bad guy. He disobeyed orders so punishment is necessary, but I was hoping he wouldn't get kicked out or something.

On paper, we can't afford to lose any more manpower unless they've done something egregiously out of line. Between you and me? I'd be a fuckin' hypocrite for kicking somebody out over something like this. I don't really know him well, but just I'm glad he ain't dead.

Yeah, I can't say it didn't occur to me to do something similar, but orders is orders, whether we like 'em or not.

He's lucky he ain't dead, too. I think he broke a rib, which was just a hair shy of puncturing a lung. I didn't do a lot of medical work when I was in the Fourth but I've seen a lot of stuff, you know? They're taking care of him now, though, so he should make a full recovery. I'm'a go check on him tomorrow.

I'm glad you didn't do something similar. While I can sure understand his sentiments, it was a fucking fool thing to do, and rest assured I'm gonna let him know it. This is me glowering at you from afar for even thinking of following suit.

Feel free to let him know he's still got a job when he recovers, but that he'd better be prepared for a verbal thrashing.

If you wanna let him live in fear, you're welcome to do so, but I'm not planning on throwing him in the brig, as it were. Not for something like this. Now, if he does it again, we might have to break out the big guns, but on a first offense I might just let him off with latrine duty for a month.
