Dear Fandom Friends, Acquaintances, and Don't-know-ya-yets,
In addition to being a rabid manga/anime fangirl, writer, and LJ comm moderator, I am also an academic who studies and teaches media and cultural studies.
Right now, I'm invested in talking to other teachers and scholars about fanfic writing in English about Japanese manga/anime. In addition to my own insights, I've just created a survey to let anyone who wishes to share their experiences and opinions on such topics as fandom genres and issues of globalism.
I can't do this without you. It should take less than 30 minutes, and I've tried to make it interesting and fun. Please consider helping me by joining in:

I don't ask for personally identifying information, and I'm not some distant or condescending scholar. I care about the fanwriting community and that we're understood as the creative, fabulous writers we are. And I will share all results with all participants always.
I would also be extremely grateful if you would consider sharing/pimping this request at your personal/fandom LJ and any Japanese manga/anime fandom comms where it might be welcome/allowed. Tapping the shoulders of friends you think might do it will also help more than I can say. The more responses I get, the more useful/valid any results will be.
