Horror Stories of the Dating Variety: Part I

Jun 29, 2010 01:53

This girl that I chatted with over my dating website earlier this year has popped back up on the radar. And not in a good way.

Originally we were planning on meeting up while I would be visiting Charlotte but then my plans shifted and I ended up being in Asheville. So I tried to be a decent person and call her to let her know that I was sorry but things just weren't going to work out for us. She was ticked, but seemed alright otherwise. All in all, I thought it went pretty smoothly.
Until she started calling me hourly and leaving voicemails full of sobbing and messages full of woe over losing her "soulmate". And text messages. Dirty text messages. And then threatening e-mails. I was past trying to be polite, but still wanted to give her a chance to calm down. I wrote her an e-mail explaining that she was a nice person but that it just wasn't reasonable to date one another and  further contact would be seen as harassment and would dealt with accordingly.
She didn't stop; she grew more persistent. After she found my Facebook, my screenname and various other internet locales, I was starting to feel paranoid. I blocked her from everything I could think of, raised my privacy settings and jumped every time my phone rang for the next two weeks.

Now, two months later, the dating website has provided me with many non-crazies and dates have been had. My dating life has been running smoothly.
And then I got an IM from her tonight from a new screenname. And a friend request on Facebook from a new profile of hers.

Color me worried.
