I'm taking my first Education class this semester and my assignment for tonight is some cheesy essay on Why I Want to Teach.
Problem is:
I don't want to teach.
It's just an immediate job option for when I get out of college. I mean, I'm going to need to be able to pay off student loans somehow. And I can't really exist as a "writer". Whoever told me I could do that was full of lies. And frankly, I'm absolutely terrified to be out on my own with no support and no suggestion of income on the horizon.
So, teaching it is.
Except, you can't say that you're going into teaching "for the money". So I'm trying to finagle some kind of BS about loving to listen and being in an open forum environment. Watching people discover their joys and whatnot.
I just want to be stable, man. Why isn't that an acceptable answer?
