“We’re going to do what?!” Die said finally waking up. Toshiya stopped his senseless mumbling and Kyo got over the fact that the attendant on the school bus confused him with a kid. “We’re going to rob a bank -”
“THE FREAK!??!!!one11!?” Shinya yelled. Everyone looked at him. The power to the ever so refreshing fridge had been shut off, Shinya simply standing there with its door open. “Oh God, I’m going to die!” he continued, collapsing to his knees. Toshiya walked over to his fallen companion and patted his back affectionately. “Toshiya knows exactly how you feel,” he whispered in sympathy.
“Why the hell is Toshi talking in 3rd person?” Kyo inquired.
“Die broke his toy tank. B-but that’s not the point. Don’t you guys see? This is our only chance for actually getting some money! Die!” Die’s eyes widened at the mentioning of his name. “Do you have enough money to pay your rent?”
“Uh, yeah.”
“…do you have enough money to buy your own house?”
Silence.
“Maybe…”
Kaoru let out a frustrated sigh. “Come on. Are any of you seriously happy with the lives you’re leading now? Don’t you want something more?”
“You sound like one of those time share commercials, Kaoru. Can’t believe you fucking woke me up for this rant…” Die mumbled. Miyu-chan barked in agreement. Kyo stared at the little dog. “Shinya! If your dog starts barking like the idiot it is then I’m going to eat it!” Shinya looked up at Kyo in horror. “Y-you wouldn’t dare -”
“Try me…”
Not wanting to take any chances, Shinya got up to his feet and cuddled Miyu-chan in his arms. He saw the way Kyo eyeballed little babies, licking his lips like a hungry animal. It wouldn’t be much of a big step for him to start eating defenseless chihuahuas. “Shinya!” Kaoru shouted, causing Shinya to flinch. “Don’t you want to be able to own at least a dozen of those rats?” Kaoru said pointing at Miyu-chan. Kaoru was obviously getting desperate and frantic.
“Kaoru-san’s out of character,” Toshiya murmured, still in his crouching position.
“Out of character,” Shinya said.
“Completely out of character,” Kyo and Die said simultaneously.
Miyu-chan barked in agreement. Kyo eyeballed the little dog and Shinya wrapped a hand around Miyu’s muzzle. Kaoru let out a sigh and ran a tense hand through is dark hair. Letting the hair fall back naturally on his face he returned to his normal cool Kaoru self. “All right, if not for the money then how about the thrill? Any of you guys got anything better to do?” Kaoru said. Die turned toward Toshiya who was mindlessly stroking the ground. Apparently the death of his toy tank had a regressing effect on him. Kyo looked at Shinya and then at Miyu-chan…then back at Shinya again. “Hell, you’re right. There’s nothing better to do so why not?” Kyo groaned. “What?” Kaoru thought, “that was it?” Die let out a frustrated sigh. “Kyo has a point there…and since you woke me up I might as well do something productive.” Productive? Miyu-chan tried to let out a bark of approval but Shinya’s grip only tightened on the dog’s muzzle. “Me and Miyu are in,” Shinya responded.
“You mean Miyu and I,” Toshiya grumbled. “And I might as well use this stuff you made me buy,” he continued, rising to his feet and lifting the plastic bag to eye height.
“All right, since everyone’s in we’ve got to clear up some things first,” Kaoru said, taking the bag from Toshiya. “We need to dress less noticeably. You know, conceal ourselves, our faces especially. Glasses should work.”
“We also need a get-away-car,” Die chimed in, his interest in the matter slowly rising.
“True. We also need a back up plan in case things go wrong.”
“We also need some cover if the cops show,” Kyo murmured, trying to mask his interest.
“Kyo, you can cover that can’t you?” Kaoru hesitantly asked. A person like Kyo had to have had at least three pistols and a spare sniper-rifle? Kyo shifted uncomfortably, “I don’t like guns. Shinya’s the one that hoards them.”
All eyes turned to Shinya. “What?” he blurted. “You never know when someone might kidnap Miyu-chan!”
“Shinya, your defensiveness over your dog has reached new heights,” Toshiya retorted.
“Well let’s head over to Shinya’s and stock up. I’ll explain further and we’ll get our hard earned money!” After Kaoru had finished his final declaration, everyone shouted “SPARTA!” in capitol letters and their quest truly began.

“Alright, I’m in position,” Shinya whispered into the walkie-talkie. As he lay belly first, he tilted his head to the side and gazed through the scope on his sniper-rifle. His vantage point on top of the building next to the soon-to-be-robbed bank was a perfect one. He was able to see the front entrance as well as the sides and roof of the building itself. As ridiculous as the entire situation was he had to admit that Kaoru was right, in a sense. He felt exhilarated. His blood rushing and heart pounding; the feeling felt better than standing in front of that fridge. All of a sudden a crackling could be heard through the walkie-talkie. It was an odd sound, not really forming words but it seemed to have…a rhythm? Suddenly Kaoru’s voice screeched across the machine, causing Shinya to flinch. “Toshiya! Stop beat-boxing over the radio!” The crackling finally died down. After a few seconds of silence another voice could be heard, “Kaoru don’t yell into the speaker. That hurt my ears.” It was Toshiya. “Oh for kami’s sake you two don’t you dare start fighting!” That was Die. “Hurry it up Kaoru, I’m starting to get bored.” Kyo. Finally the ring of voices wound up back to Kaoru. “Alright, are all of you ready? Then Kyo and Die you head in now. Toshiya and I will be waiting in the car. Shinya you keep eyes on the exterior.” And on that last note, Die lifted from his seat on the bench outside the bank and picked up the black, duffle bag that sat at his feet. He met Kyo outside the bank’s entrance.

The inside of the bank was a bit smaller than one could have perceived from the exterior. The high ceilings dotted with recess lighting and simple, carpeted floors were characteristics of it being a local, community bank. Kyo and Die opened the double doors and rolled into the bank simultaneously. A bank attendant walked over to them and greeted the two in a cheerful manner. Die turned to the attendant - his cold stare masked by the black shades - and said coolly, “No need for formalities.” The attendant gave them a perplexed stare and the duo continued to the front desk. Die placed a lazy arm over the counter and looked the clerk in the eye casually. The clerk - a woman - tensed a bit when she saw the two but her demeanor quickly shifted into one of hospitality. “How may I help you?” she said. Kyo gently lifted up the front of his shirt until a shining piece of metal could be seen. The woman shot a confused glance at the shorter man. “Wha?” she questioned, not getting the hint. Kyo tapped the piece of metal repeatedly, giving her one of those blank glares of his. “Wha? I-is that your wallet or something?” the woman said, leaning over the counter trying to get a better look at the object. Frustrated, Die shot a hand to grab the metal and pulled it out further. Surely she’ll now see that it was a gun. Instead, the woman leaned backwards from the sudden gesture and her face lit up to a faint red. “Wha-what are you two doing?!” Die and Kyo stared at her. She must’ve thought that Die was trying to strip Kyo right in front of her, why else would she act like that? “Damnit woman! It’s a gun!” Kyo hissed a little too loudly, pulling the pistol out from under his shirt. “We’re fuckin’ robbers! Now what we want you to do is take us back to the money!” Kyo continued, his voice lower now. The clerk’s mouth gaped open and her eyes widened in realization and horror. Her hand began fishing for the police button underneath the counter, but Die stopped her when he leaned in and placed a gun of his own to her chest. Due to the pillars separating each counter from one another, no one could clearly see the barrel of the pistol. Immediately, the woman nodded her head vigorously and beckoned for the two to follow her. Sheathing their weapons, Kyo and Die followed the woman behind the counter and into the back of the bank. As soon as they were in the security of the back, Die lifted the walkie-talkie to his mouth. “Kao, we’re in. Should be about a few minutes before -”
“Why the hell are you talking now?! There are security cameras in there you dumbass!”

Oh yeah…

Die stuffed the radio into his pocket again and grumbled something about, “ f’ing Kaoru”. The woman finally stopped at the entrance to the safe. She instructed the two to wait behind her as her trembling frame worked out the code. Several beeps later, the door opened with a hissing groan. A malicious grin broke out over Die and Kyo’s faces as they stared at the huge sum before them. Immediately they set to work. Kyo kept a watchful eye on the woman as Die went in to collect as much money as the duffle bag could hold. Heartbeat picking up pace and his breaths came out in short, nervous gasps. This had to be the most invigorating thing in his life. Die felt like he was shooting the buzzer shot in a basket ball game, that the last pitch the strike the team out was up to him, that he was running though a lost tomb with some sexy, hot chick named Lora Croft collecting forbidden treasures that warped both space and time. As much as he hated to admit it, Kaoru was right. It was truly exhilarating. After a few minutes of scrambling for cash the duffle bag was finally full. Die swung the strap over his shoulder and headed out the vault. “Kao, we’re done. Send the car,” Die said into the radio, his breath coming in sporadic gasps.
“Will do,” Kaoru responded. Die then put away the walkie-talkie and grabbed the woman by her arm. “Lead us outta here.” The woman fearfully nodded in agreement and thus began their walk back to the front desk.

Everything appeared to be going smoothly. They had reached the front counter without hassle. The woman didn’t press the alarm button. Die had the money. He and Kyo were heading out the double doors. Just then a woman carrying a baby walked in. Kyo halted. Die noticing his companions sudden stop, looked down to see Kyo eyeballing the little infant. “Kyo,” Die breathed in warning. The baby, sensing the great evil, began crying. The mother pried the infant from her shoulder and began cooing to it in a vain attempt to calm it down. Amidst all the commotion, the clerk behind the desk used the opportunity to press the alarm button. Red lights flashed from the ceiling and the doors were slowly being barricaded. “Damn! ‘Cmon Kyo!” Die shouted grabbing the shorter’s arm. Blasting through the glass of the double doors, Die and Kyo were met by a white Honda swerving onto the side walk. Its windows rolled down and Toshiya’s head popped out, “Get to da choppa!” Not wasting any more time, Die swung open the back door, tossed in Kyo and the duffle bag and slid himself in. The car jolted to a start and sped down onto the road just as soon as the door had been closed. “Oh, god that was close,” Die finally breathed.
“Yeah, too close,” Kaoru said from behind the wheel. “You two were in there for so long I thought that they’d caught onto you.”
“No, this stupid woman behind the counter kept wasting our time…where’s Shinya?” Die replied.
“Oh, he’s already gone to his apartment. Since we didn’t need any cover I just told him to go.”
“Ahh, I see.”
Just then, the white Honda hit a speed bump sending Die’s head to the car ceiling.
“God you moron! Slow down!”
“I’d love too, but it looks like we have some admirers,” Kaoru said, referring to the flashing lights in the mirrors. The sound of screeching sirens filled the air as the chase began.
