Merry Christmas, koyuki_azumaya!

K, so I promised I would make koyuki_azumaya some fic for Christmas, and I did:

Title: May I Have this Dance?
Pairing: Suzaku/Euphemia
Summary: Euphie tries to teach Suzaku how to dance. Cuteness ensues.

Merry Christmas!

“Umm, Euphie, I don’t-”

“Come on, Suzaku, what are you afraid of?” His princess laughed as she dragged him along.

“But, Euphie, I can’t-”

“Everyone can dance, Suzaku!” Euphie smiled, pulling him on to the dance floor.

“No, not everyone!”

“You can learn! You’ve got to learn before the party tonight, anyway!” she said cheerfully, while Suzaku merely scowled. Dancing at formal parties was not in a knight’s job description.

But, he knew he’d never get out of this one so easily. Once Euphie was on to an idea, it was hard for her to let go. Sighing, he said, “Alright, Euphie, but I’m telling you, I can’t-”

“Don’t worry, I’ll teach you so you can even out-dance Schniezel nii-sama.” The only person in Suzaku’s mind who could possibly out dance him was Lelouch-though Lelouch would never admit it in public, the boy could dance fabulously.

Euphie turned on a small music player off to the side of the royal ballroom. A slow waltz came on-a soft, romantic sounding tune resonated throughout the empty ballroom.

“Okay!” she said with a smile, grabbing hold of Suzaku’s hands. “We hold hands here,” she said, taking his left hand off to the side. “And you put your right hand here,” she said, propping it around her waist.”

Pink instantly rushed to Suzaku’s cheeks. “There?”

She stared. “What? What’s wrong with there?”

He glanced away quickly, “Nothing…” Well, if Euphie was happy with it…

“Now,” she said, “Move one foot forward.”

He did it and then she said, “Now move the other foot to your right.”

“Like this?”

Euphie laughed. “No, your other right.”

“Oh…”

“Now, meet them up again.”

“Huh.”

“See that?” she smiled. “That’s the basic step. Now try it again, going the other way.”

“Umm…”

“No, Suzaku, wrong foot!”

“Oh, right!”

“Now, go back,”

“Wait…”

“Other way-”

“Yeah-”

“Now, turn-!

“Ah!” Suzaku’s boot had stepped on the hem of Euphie’s dress, and down they went. Suzaku hit the floor hard as Euphie fell on top of him.

“Are you all right, Euphie?”

“Yeah.” She said, rolling back off him. They both sat up. The music still played in the background, but now, neither of them paid attention to its rhythm.

“Euphie,” Suzaku didn’t look back at her. “I don’t think I should do this.”

“Huh?”

“I shouldn’t even try. I can’t do this…I shouldn’t go to the party tonight. I’ll just trip and make a fool out of myself and you…you should find someone else to go with.”

“But, Suzaku-”

“I told you, it’s hopeless! I’m not cut out for this, and…I don’t want to embarrass you tonight, Euphie. Go with someone else.”

Euphie’s violet eyes seemed to plead with him to reconsider, but instead, she gave a sigh. “All right. You don’t have to come. I’ll see if there is someone else I can go with. But…it would have been nice just to be with you, you know.”

Suzaku jerked back at that comment. And then, he cemented his resolve.

“Lelouch!”

“Augh, what?” the irritable prince asked, as Suzaku practically dragged him out of class. “I’m kind of busy-”

“Lelouch, please!” Suzaku begged. “I need you to teach me how to do a waltz before tonight!”

“What? What for!”

“Please, Lelouch! It’s important!”

Lelouch watched Suzaku as his best friend pleaded for his help. No, Suzaku…he hardly ever begged for help. He must be desperate to come ask him for something like this...

Something for Euphemia…

Biting down against the annoyance, Lelouch answered, “You’re going to owe me big time for this one, Kururugi.”

The party had started. Music was in the air as the guests laughed, drank, and danced. After the long battles in Area 11, it was such a nice thing to get a chance to sit back and relax. Everyone was happy and grateful for this little break.

Everyone, that is, except Euphemia. She sat alone at a table, dressed up but with no one to talk to. She hadn’t asked anyone else to go with her-she didn’t want to; it was either Suzaku or no one else.

But it was rather lonely like this…

And then, just as a slow, pretty song came on, she heard a cough from behind her. Whirling around, she saw none other and Suzaku-dressed up in his royal knight garb.

“Su-Suzaku?”

Though his insides squirmed, he did it without flaw. “May I have this dance?” he asked sweetly, holding out his hand.

Euphie couldn’t help but smile in joy. “Of course.”

And she was swept off into one of the most memorable dances of her life.

It never mattered that he tripped over her feet and almost brought them crashing down. Four times.

I ALMOST put in the scene where Lelouch teaches Suzaku how to dance, but since this was a cute SuzaEuphie, I figured it wouldn't be right to toss in some messed up angsty SuzaLulu in there. XD

Hope you liked it!
