Sakura Gari
Yay. Insomnia again.
Anyway, while I wait for the new episode to appear on youtube so I can talk about it (my internet is being weird, and adultswim.com thinks I like in Russia or something now...?) I've been reading a lot of manga (and watching a lot of House, but House is irrelevant to this entry).
One series I've been reading a lot is Sakura Gari.
Now, for those who have never heard of it, I'll say it plainly: It's yaoi. Hardcore, about as hardcore as you can get in order to sell it on shelves yaoi. It's yaoi with pretty boys. Drawn by Yuu Watase. Yum.
Now, while Watase's plots have been...less than amazing in the past (see: Original Fushigi Yuugi and Ceres) her plots have been getting better of late (see: Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden) but unfortunately, as shallow as it sounds, I really never cared for the plot of Sakura Gari. I just cared about the two hot guys fucking, quite frankly.
And oh, they do that part right.
The first two chapters can be skipped, I don't even remember what happened in them. Chapter 3 however...we get rape. Lots of it. Chapter 4 is a lot of angsty buttsex, and the recently released chapter 5 is angry buttsecks. VERY angry buttsecks. I like.
Or maybe I've just read too many Suzalulu doujins, but the rule of yaoi works here as well: angry secks is always better than cute secks, the only corollary is that it doesn't work that way in real life, most of the time. Unless you're into that fetish.
At best, taking the story minus the sex, its allright. But I found it incredibly boring. I mean, FY:GK, my favorite Watase series since all of the other ones...kinda suck, had plot. It had interesting plot. Sure it had the generic "We must summon Suzaku Genbu!" plot, but then, I actually CARED about the characters this time around. The MAIN LOVE INTEREST can change into a woman! I'm surprised Takahashi hasn't sued yet And he hates it SO MUCH! That's awesome!
And unlike some of Watase's...previous works, not everyone falls in love with the main chick. Only two guys...I think. I'd rather it be just one, but well...that's just me.
But back to Sakura Gari. I mean, compared to Genbu Kaiden...I found the plot quite boring. And the fact that the given seme looks almost exactly like Uruki and the uke one looks like Tomite kinda throws it off And makes it so much hotter, because I could totally see Uruki screwing a unwilling Tomite.
But, I dunno. If you like HOT secks and a meh plot, then go read it right now. If not, the series is not right for you.
But it's damn hot, so I'll put in a good word for it.
