I just got back from the new HEB Plus! store on 620. Per usual, I always end up doing things two or three days after I had planned to do them. I was supposed to try this new HEB on Saturday but never got around to it for some reason or another until today. Perhaps it was better this way since it wasn't crowded at all. I give it a thumbs up and have decided to make it our regular store. Although there are five closer stores according to HEB's website, the drive is really easy and the selection is worth it. It doesn't surpass the College Station store, but it's up there. I found out the Plus! means that they have a Wal-martesque selection of music, DVD's, baby clothes, toys, kitchenware and sundries. I didn't really care about all of that. I'm just there for the food. Oh boy was I happy to see the sushi counter with two artists at work! :-) In my weakness I ordered two containers of veggie rolls and
inari, my favorite. They don't have the huge ethnic aisle like the CS store. It's no matter though since there's an asian grocery store about two miles from me at a shopping center that I now refer to as my Mecca. In addition to the grocery store, the center has an asian gift shop, bubble tea shop, sno-cone stand (it's ok but better than nothing), chinese restaurant and manga/anime store. It's like they built it just for me. :-) It's best that I go only occasionally as I have a tendency to stay there for several hours. I don't know how that happens. The meat counter at HEB is impressive, although expensive. Adam will be happy. I bought him beef flank stuffed with feta and spinach and chicken breast stuffed with ham and swiss. It's a pretty good store.
Anyway, the weekend was pretty uneventful. We picked up the new couch on Saturday. I won't go into the details since it raises my blood pressure when I think about it. But I will say that Ashley furniture is a scam and employs only the most disgruntled workers - every one of them. Sunday I spent the day doing a lot of nothing. Adam and our AC repairman neighbor finally figured out the problem with our unit. Apparently there's some switch that regulates between the heating and cooling functions. That switch is stuck between the two causing the AC and heater to be on simultaneously. I don't know the solution. but we're getting a new unit in a few weeks. The sooner the better. It's been about 82 degrees in the house since Saturday, and that's the best it's going to get until we get the unit replaced. I'm not looking forward to the electric bill either. The AC won't shut itself off at all. I have to manually shut it off in order to avoid a $500 energy bill. To summarize, I don't know that I did anything productive this weekend except to avoid our hot house and visit several businesses with ACs, much to their delight.
Sorry this isn't a very interesting post. My days have been pretty boring lately, with the exception of the BT concert. I need to get a job or get involved with something. Anything. It would make me feel a lot better if I was making some kind of progress on my 40x40 list too. I'm going to go eat my sushi now. Later.
