A whirlwind named Kagome had made her way back into the kitchen to make sure that everything was going according to plan. She had just finished basting her turkey when she felt a tug on her skirt. Looking down she was met with the innocent amber eyes of her godson, which were filled with wonder and excitement.

“Is something wrong Kōji,” she asked the black/silvered haired pup.

Silver polka-dotted dog ears flattened as the little hanyou asked “Auntie Kags what's a T-T-Thankgivin'?”

“It's an American holiday where people take the day to celebrate what they are truly thankful for,” the miko tried to explain.

“I thought we lived in J-J-Japan,” Kōji said.

“We do sweetie,” Kagome said as she turned around to make sure her soup wasn't burning.

“Then how come were celebratin' this America thing?” the little hanyou asked curiously.

Turning back towards her godson, she sighed. The miko should have known that any offspring of Inuyasha's and Miroku's would be too smart for their own good. Little Kōji was a bundle of energy, always questioning everyone and everything. He could never ask just one question about anything he was curious about, so Kagome knew that she had to make her answer good.

“Well I just thought it would be nice for us to follow another culture's tradition for once. Plus I like the idea of being thankful for everything Buddha has given us,” she said; happy that she had given him an intelligent answer or so she thought.”

“So I guess that I have to be grateful that Mama is goin' ta have another baby,” he said sadly.

Shocked to find out that Inuyasha was pregnant in such a way, Kagome tried to recollect herself. Calmly she smiled at her godson.

“Of course little one, you're going to be a big brother. That is a wonderful thing to be thankful for,” the miko said as she gathered him into her arms and put him on her lap.

“But if there is another baby Mommy and Daddy will forget all about me,” the hanyou said as amber eyes began to fill up with tears.

She was about to say something when Miroku came into the room. Hearing what his son had said, the monk lifted Kōji out of Kagome's lap.

“Sweetie, we will always love you. Just because me and mommy are having another baby doesn't mean we will love you any less,” the monk said; then gave him a kiss on the cheek.

“That's right honey we will always be thankful to Buddha for giving us such sweet, inquisitive son,” Inuyasha said from the doorway.

Lips curling up in a smile, Kōji looked over at his Aunt.

“Let's get goin' with this Thanksgivin' thing...cause I have to thank Buddha for givin' me such an awesome mommy and daddy by eatin' a lot of cake and cookies,” he said as Miroku sat him down on the ground. Then he took each of his parents by the hand and began to led them towards the dining room.

Chuckling as the little family left her kitchen, Kagome decided she would let them deal with the aftermath of a sugar riddled Kōji. After all the miko had to pay them back for all the times that she had to be the one to answer the little hanyou's questions. And she was quite sure that once Thanksgiving was over, she would have to be the one to explain to him where babies came from. She of course wouldn't have it any other way because for all the things being the feudal era had given her...having the boys in her life was the one of the things she was most thankful for.
