It had been a week since Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, and Miroku left for the final battle. The males were determined to fight Naraku till the end, and hastily instructed the women to stay behind. Sango tried very hard to convince them to let her join them, but they insisted she was needed to protect the weaker females. She was considered the alpha, they told her, but she wasn't very happy about it. She wanted to fight, but after swift negotiations with Sesshomaru, her mind was changed.
So she pouted about it the entire week, grumbling under her breath about having to look after Kagome and Rin. And while Sango did enjoy the company of the little girl, she missed a classic moment while she was away fetching water.
"Kagome, do you have any food in this bag?" Rin asked, pulling on the clasp. "I'm hungry."
The miko paused from mixing a pot of vegetables to look at her. "Yes, but I'm cooking here."
"But I want something sweet."
Kagome sighed. "No, you're eating this."
Rin puffed out her bottom lip at Kagome. "Okay." But the second Kagome turned her back, the girl started pulling on the clasp again. It wasn't opening, so she sat cross-legged and pulled the bag into her lap. Then she resorted to beating the sealed cloth with her fists, hoping sheer force would open it. She'd seen Sesshomaru-sama use force to get what he wants every day.
One well-placed fist evoked a soft click from under the wrinkled cloth. Then a low rumbling could be heard. "Huh?" Rin was utterly confused and started rotating the bag in her lap to locate the sound. It wasn't until the backpack was firmly in her lap did she realize what was going on. The bag was vibrating; and it felt good resting between her legs. Rin's eyes widened, then became heavy-lidded.
Kagome thought she heard a familiar sound, so she turned to Rin, her eyes widening in horror. "Rin!" she squealed. The girl found something, but it wasn't candy.
Rin looked up at her, a lazy smile on her face. "I feel happy right now."
Horrified and disturbed, she snatched the bag from her and quickly reached into it. She switched it off and sighed. "I'm a terrible person," she said to herself and retreated back to the pot, taking the backpack with her.
Then for the next week, Kagome had to take leaps and bounds to keep the Happy Bag away from Rin, much to Sango's confusion. The demon slayer rose a brow at Rin's diligence, but assumed it was because she wanted candy. "Pshh... that girl and her sweets," she laughed to herself. "Good times."
