A/N: Sango isn’t my least favorite character; she’s actually pretty high up on the list. I just don’t have a whole lot of respect for her, as a woman; she doesn’t seem to have enough respect for herself. She’s a hardcore, kickass demon-fighting warrior-woman!! She doesn’t have to take that hentai’s crap all the time!!! That said, I am a huge MirSan shipper. XD I’m just also bipolar, it seems.
Sango awoke with a start, sitting up and looking around. Her entire, nude body was covered with a fine sheen of sweat, and she rubbed her arms, crossing them over her breasts. It actually felt cold in the well-insulated house that her Miroku had built for them with Inuyasha’s aide soon after the final battle, and she moved over on the empty tatami mat, looking around for any sign of her husband.
She pushed herself easily to her feet, crossing the rather large bedroom to grab her pale green kosode from its place lain neatly across the back of a wooden chair. As she dressed, she called out her husband’s name: “Miroku!”
No answer.
“Miroku?”
Still no answer.
“Kensei?” she called, hoping that her son would at least answer her if his father refused to. “Mikomi? Kimiko?” The twins weren’t answering her either.
The resulting silence hung thickly in the air, surrounding Sango and giving birth to a whole new level of fear stabbing her sharply in the chest. She finished dressing, trying her best to keep her cool despite the intensely painful tightening in her chest. She tied the black ribbon around her hair, holding it back, and Sango set off through the house at a quick, nearly frantic pace.
“Miroku! Girls? Kensei?”
The silence was deafening.
She reached the front door of the home without finding any trace of any of her family. Kensei’s bedroom was empty, as were the twins’. She threw open the front door of their small home, met immediately by the thickets, whitest fog she had ever seen. She brushed her hands through the air, trying to part the blanket of fog that was currently spilling from the outside world into her small, quaint home.
Fear stole through her right then, and she held her breath as she watched the fog, waiting. Finally, she called out into it, “Miroku? Miro-!”
She broke off into a sudden scream as a dark tentacle that she thought only existed in nightmares now broke through the thick mist, shoving bluntly through her torso and splattering the front door of her home with warm, dark blood. She screamed and screamed as it lifted her, kicking, into the air before yanking her fluidly into the deep, sightless fog.
A familiar cackle broke through her agonized screams, and Sango’s eyes widened in terror as she stared up into the crimson eyes of a monster she’d once thought defeated.
“Well, hello again, my dear Sango…”
She couldn’t even squeeze out another scream as another tentacle dove into her bleeding gut, both of them impaling her. They yanked in separate directions, splitting the taijiya in two. Her blood sprayed everywhere - on Naraku himself, on the ground and the buildings around them, even on the limp, bloody corpses of her young family.
Snickering silently, Naraku dropped Sango’s body alongside the monk’s as he turned, intrigued by a new noise coming from the direction of the old well:
“Sango! Miroku! Where are you two! Kagome’s finally back!”
