Title: My Side of The Story
Rating: PG-13 for swearing ~
Pairing: teh Inukai
Disclaimer: I no own the PoT! However, the ounce in my dresser is totally mine.
Summary: One day, Inui gets up the nerve to tell everyone a story. Its told in the POV of Oishi, because I'm just random like that : P.
We liked to tell one another stories on rainy days. Eiji and Momo liked to best - however, Fuji did seem to get an immense, even somewhat sadistic pleasure out of telling us scary stories. Some like Tezuka and Kaidoh would decline to comment, and usually, Inui preferred to listen rather than speak. I always assumed this was because he was collecting some sort of data from us by the stories we told and the reactions we had to them. But you never know with that guy. Anyways, Inui would explain to us that he didn't have a story to tell.
But that day he did.
He asked us if we would care to listen, and all of us told him to go ahead. He stood up, cleared his throat, and began pacing.
"This," he began, "is a love story." Then he sat back down.
"Was that all?" Echizen asked.
"Nya, couldn't be," Eiji said.
"I agree," Momo added. "Inui-sempai, you have stage fright!"
"You two are very perceptive," Inui said. Then nothing.
We looked at him like he were wearing a bunny suit until he was sufficiently freaked out enough to stand back up and continue. He cleared his throat and began pacing again.
"I am afraid, but I think I'll feel better once I let this story out. This is a story about a boy named...Inuzuka. Inuzuka Taro. Inuzuka seemed like a lonely boy, but he was really happy. He enjoyed being left to his own machinations, to expand his knowledge, and to become, as he believed, overall a better person. His parents had left him when he was very young and his guardian let him do whatever he wished. He only wished for logic and data.
"Then one day Inuzuka met a girl named Kaoru."
Momo burst out laughing.
"What's so funny?" Kaidoh hissed.
"Nothing at all," he replied. "Go on, Inui."
"Alright, then. Kaoru was quiet, too, but not like Inuzuka. She was quiet not because she wanted to be, but because she had to be. Closing herself in was the only method she knew of protecting herself."
Kaidoh stood up and made his way to the door.
"Nya, where're you going?"
A hiss.
"You've gotta stay thorugh the story, Mamushi. Its rude to interrupt."
Kaidoh snickered. "You're one to talk."
"What'd you say, Ma-"
"I'll-"
It was all a blur to me, but within minutes, poor Kaidoh was tied to the chair next to mine, bound with rope. He dropped his head in defeat.
"Please, Inui," I said with all the composure I could gather, "Please continue."
"Kaoru was an enigma to Inuzuka. There was something illogical about the fact that she was both intimidating and attractive, and she had a way of going against all of Inuzuka's data. She was...amazing."
I heard Kaidoh let out a quiet hiss beside me. Behind his fallen hair, his face was scarlet.
"Inui, this Inuzuka guy sounds alot like you. And that girl -"
"Eiji," I said and grasped his wrist firmly, "Please stop interrupting. Inui, please continue."
"Inuzuka knew that he had to find a way to be with her - if not as her lover or friend, at least someone she'd be around. He was lucky that they both had something in common...badminton.
"Kaoru was very frustrated with her game, and accepted Inuzuka's offer to help. He could recognize the great potential within her and would do anything to help her reach it.
"As they practiced everyday, Inuzuka learned more and more about her. Kaoru was actually quite sweet, she loved cute things and animals."
As Inui went on about what Inuzuka learned about Kaoru, Kaidoh kicked the leg of my chair. I turned to look at him and he motioned towards the rope that bound him. I nodded to show that I understood.
"Kaoru also loved her family very much, and seemed saddened to learn that Inuzuka didn't really have one. She opened her home to him, so Inuzuka opened his heart.
"One day, he went to her house, determined to confess his feelings for her. Her mother kindly let him in, and pointed him to Kaoru's bedroom. As he stood outside to door, Inuzuka tried to collect his thoughts, so as to ensure that the confession would be coherent. However, all his thoughts were in a whirl. Thus, Inuzuka said to himself, 'Why not?', slammed open the door, and announced quite loudly to Kaoru that he loved her."
I overheard Momo quietly mumble, "Uh, shit."
"Nya, what did Kaoru say?" Eiji asked.
"Yeah?" Momo added.
"Nothing," Inui replied. "She was holding a peach."
The bundle of rope fell to the ground and Kaidoh stood up.
"Damn Mamushi got loose!"
"Oishi, you untied him? Why?"
"Don't worry about it, Eiji."
Kaidoh made his way to where Inui was pacing back and forth. Kaidoh stood perfectly still and straight, looked all of us in the eye and said, "That's not true. This is my version of the story."
