Thirty-Four
Kaidoh slid down on the wall and sighed. He tried to call Inui but his cell phone was off. He was locked in his room somehow from the outside and would never make it now. It didn’t help that it had just began to rain outside and the water droplets were hitting to glass roughly.
“Shit!” He hissed.
“Those are some harsh words Mamushi,” said a voice before the door had opened making Kaidoh fall to the floor suddenly. He looked up to find smug violet eyes looking back down at him.
“What the hell are you doing here?!” Kaidoh snapped.
“One Fuji called me and told me that you weren’t at the church yet…” Momoshiro began, “And well…yeah…I overslept.”
“Fssshuuu…idiot. You’re either eating or sleeping,” Kaidoh muttered standing up.
“Psh is that the way to talk to someone who just unlocked the door to your room?” Momoshiro shot back.
“Stupid. Come on! I have to get there before it’s too late,” Kaidoh called out before running down the halls. Momoshiro rolled his eyes and smiled before chasing after his rival. They were down at the front doors before Kaidoh cursed under his breath. Of course since it was raining there was traffic.
“There’s so way I’ll be able to be there,” Kaidoh said.
“Let’s just run dammit! We’ll make it if we run fast…or is Mamushi afraid I’ll beat him in a race and get wet by a little rain?” Momoshiro chided.
“As if! You’re on!” Kaidoh shouted before darting out the door with Momoshiro following behind him through the rain.

“He’s not here yet…” Tezuka said looking at his watch.
“Nya, Kaidoh’s so slow,” Eiji pouted placing his hands on the back of his head.
“Momo isn’t here yet either,” Ryoma murmured looking at his cell phone as if debating on whether to call him or not.
“Should we try calling?” Oishi suggested.
“Wait it out. The ceremony is about to start and we can’t do anything about it,” Tezuka said.
“Kaidoh you better not be chickening out,” Yuri muttered darkly under her breath as Kinomoto attempted to calm her dangerous streak down.

Inui was there amongst so many people he knew and didn’t know. Everyone was waiting for the bride to make her grand entrance that was never going to actually happen since she was trapped in her dressing room. Where was Kaidoh? He wasn’t with Eiji and Fuji or anyone else in that room… The data genius was for once unsure and was getting worried.
“Where is she?” Inui’s mother exclaimed.
Relatives began to talk amongst themselves chattily. How annoying…
‘Maybe she’s nervous..’
‘Maybe something happened…’
‘Such things are bad luck between married couples though. It shows that they’re not…a perfect match…’
“S-She’s not coming,” Inui stuttered out.
“What?! Sadaharu what do you mean?!” Inui’s father exclaimed.
“Father, mother…I can’t and won’t go through with this. It isn’t what I want and I refuse to devote myself and make a commitment to someone I don’t even love or much less care about,” Inui answered gathering up the strength to talk.
There were even more murmurs.
‘There’s another girl?’
‘They didn’t approve of her probably..’
“You don’t mean-“ Inui’s mother began horrified. She was interrupted from her dramatics from the door opening on the side with a soaking wet Momoshiro and Kaidoh emerging from it.
“Sorry he’s late. He got locked in a room!” Momoshiro said to his friends in the back of the room giving a thumbs up before just figuring out they were in the chapel in front of everyone…
“Oh… Wrong entrance… Oops!”
“Kaidoh…”
“Sorry for delaying Sadaharu, I got held up,” Kaidoh said sheepishly before walking over to his side. His eyes darted to the floor realizing attention was drawn to them. Way to go Momoshiro…
“YOU!”
“Mother if you care you’ll let me be with him! What is wrong with him?! You’ve never even met him!” Inui exclaimed holding his boyfriend possessively.
“I won’t allow it! Not in this family!” She shrieked.
“Then don’t bother disowning me. I’ll leave on my own,” Inui snapped.
More murmurs. Confused and shocked ones at that. Why couldn’t everyone just shut up?
“He has friends who support him so that’s why he’s easily able to leave without any thought,” Fuji said stepping forward with the same cheerful smile.
“You planned this!”
“You underestimated love,” Yuri said with a confidently.
Just then Touka came barging in looking a wreck.
“You got out!” she screamed.
“No shit they did Sherlock,” murmured Ryoma with a smirk.
Touka looked shocked finding Ryoma at this so-called-wedding. As well as Tezuka Kunimitsu.. Her eyes wavered over to the man beside him. That Fuji guy. Then it just hit her that Fuji was Tezuka’s boyfriend. Damn it was a small world!
“Just who the hell do you people think you are?!” Touka called out in frustration.
“Friends of course,” Eiji said with a cheeky confident smile.
“I won’t allow it! I won’t! Sadaharu get over here right now!” Inui’s father called out.
“I don’t have to go anywhere. I as of now left this family and you no longer have any control on what I can and can not do. Disown me if you wish but I’m old enough to make my own decisions,” Inui said.
“We’re leaving,” Inui’s mother said as if in a trance. She was dragged away by her husband and soon everyone started follow suit after the bride has screamed in frustration and stomped out defeated. It left just Inui and Kaidoh…and their friends now who now seated themselves in front of the elaborate place. There was a silence as if someone was waiting for something to be said.
“Now this is how it’s supposed to be,” Yuri said with a laugh.
Kaidoh blushed knowing what Yuri meant by that. A wedding…an unofficial one of course-but it was some sort of ceremony for him and Inui. It would be far from perfect. Kaidoh was soaking wet from the rain, there was no cake, no planned honeymoon, no fancy decorations, no rings to exchange…nothing was perfect. But to Kaidoh it was just perfect…
“Kaidoh… We’ve known each other since Junior High. And at first I thought you were just a determined brat who didn’t want to lose. After a while of watching you then I found you to be an interesting person and even more so when you won your Regulars position. And then I found myself falling in love; you were just a completely different person than what I thought you were. You were determined but that was just because you loved what you did. You played tough but you were cute on the inside when nobody was looking. I didn’t realize how much I might actually love you until Junior High when I left. When I found you again I tried to keep my mind clear and see you as a friend but after prodding from a certain person who prodded enough to not let me deny my feelings….I knew I loved you. And I want you to know that being with you has made me love you even more and that you’ve made me so strong and live everyday through for this past year,” Inui said.
Kaidoh was stunned that Inui has said all that. It was just…amazing. He was speechless.
“I-I don’t know what to say… Sadaharu if I knew that we’d be doing this and actually…” Kaidoh blushed, “Having some sort of thing going on I would have had something written up.”
Inui laughed, “You don’t have to say anything.” He took a hold of Kaidoh’s left hand and kissed it gently before taking out an emerald ring from his pocket and sliding it on Kaidoh’s slender finger.
“You didn’t…” Kaidoh breathed out stunned. His hand trembled as he felt the metal on his ring finger.
“I actually planned that part out,” Inui said sheepishly.
Kaidoh blushed remembering what Fuji had said and even glanced over at him to see him grinning madly as if to keep from laughing at how right he had been at Kaidoh getting a ring soon.
“And now you may kiss the bride!” Yuri exclaimed teasingly.
Kaidoh glared at her turning red in the face as he yelled out, “I’m not a girl dammit!”
But he did kiss Inui who kissed back just as lovingly as he heard people laugh at Yuri’s remarks and cheer. No this was not perfect, this was heaven. This was better than perfect. It was just Kaidoh and Inui. Just the two of them that would forever remain together. It was just the two of them.
And that’s the way it would be.
Epilogue
Two years later…
A man walked down the stairway and into the crowd of people who surrounded him. He was used it and yet not used to it. It had been a year after all and he had became a professional tennis player. Someone yanked him by the arm out of the crowd and into the car and closed the door before capturing his lips into a kiss.
“Inui!” Kaidoh protested.
“What is it beloved?” Inui asked he pulled Kaidoh into his lap in the backseat order the taxi cab driver to drive them to their apartment.
“I swear sometimes I wonder if you kidnap people for a living,” Kaidoh muttered.
“I only kidnap you and that’s only because reporters would take away our ‘us time’ if I didn’t by about forty percent. Do you know how big of a number that is?’ Inui pointed out.
Kaidoh blushed and clung onto him before lapping at his neck, “Mn…you and your calculations… You mix work into romance.”
“I’m sorry,” Inui said before giving Kaidoh an apologetic kiss. It would be a little while before they got home since traffic was always busy in San Francisco. Especially after such an intense match with Echizen Ryoma.
All the sudden Inui’s cell phone rang interrupted that ‘us time’ he was talking about with Kaidoh.
“Hello?” he asked as if agitated.
“Is that the way to greet your friend who just got you and your boyfriend cake for later?” Yuri asked.
“Cake?’
“Yeah it is your two year anniversary since your wedding and all,” Yuri said.
Kaidoh blushed madly obviously overhearing the girl, “It was NOT a wedding!” He shouted into the phone before shoving it back at Inui before sulking. Yes he was in denial… It wasn’t real so he thought it wasn’t a wedding. Typical Kaidoh.
“Suuure. Anyway I just wanted to tell you that before you thought someone broke into your apartment or something,” Yuri said.
Inui grinned, “I’ll be sure to put some good use to that cake.”
“I’m sure you will.”
Inui bode his friend and her boyfriend who merely said hi (aka…Kinomoto) and hung up before they were at their apartment. It was on a high up floor over looking the city just as Kaidoh had dreamt of. Inui placed his arms around Kaidoh as his shut the door and locked it.
“I love you Kaoru,” he murmured.
“Love you too…”
“You are happy right?” Inui asked.
“With you I’m always happy,” Kaidoh answered with a smile.
“That’s good to know,” Inui said giving his boyfriend as deep kiss.
Their love was so strong and Kaidoh was thrilled knowing that Inui would be by his side forever. They had lived their dreams completely and everyone they knew were close knit like a tightly bonded family. Everything was perfect and more than Kaidoh had ever dreamed for.
“The two of us,” Inui murmured before kissing Kaidoh again and again.
Kaidoh smiled and thought to himself, ‘Just the two of us.’

(A/N: OMFG!I finished it! I truly and honestly can say I finished it and placed a lot of love and care in the ending! For all who have read this crappy fic up until this point thank you so much!
