I have let the terribly blight of envy touch my heart. Times have been difficult. Stagnation has me worried. And I have observed the blessings of others, only to blacken my mood. You know you're a writer when the blues have settled in and the only things that can make you feel better are either bad for you, or writing (or, in my case alone, a heavy dose of Beth. Sorry, there's only one of her).
Writing always makes me feel better, so it doesn't surprise me that sorting out your thoughts on paper (screen, monitor, whatever) works for you, too. These are hard times for everyone, my friend, but the honesty of one man standing up and saying that, yeah, this sucks, but that only means that I have to be better, makes us all want to try a little harder.
Or at least it makes me want to try harder. That counts for something, right?
