Fanmix: [Slings & Arrows] I Don't Love You (And I Always Will): A Geoffrey/Ellen EP.

Sep 25, 2010 15:46

Geoffrey Tennant and Ellen Fanshaw, legends of the stage who always know their lines and have fifteen ways to interpret each of them. But off the stage, the script is unclear, and they fumble their lines as they try again and again to make their story come out right. But when Prospero calls up his tempests, when Hamlet really does go mad, when Beatrice cannot let go of her barbs--what then? Maybe the play grinds to a halt, becomes a tragedy; or maybe this is the play, the thing: all the acts it takes for Oberon and Titania to come back together.

Automatic Blue - Thea Gilmore
The traffic says it’s morning and the light that’s in your room
The radio is broken so you hum a Springsteen tune
Well you say you’ve not been sleeping ‘cos your heart keeps you awake
And you wonder how much longer this fade out is gonna take

Well here are your best-laid plans, and here are your ways and means
You laid them there right at her feet beside your truant dreams
Oh I know a little bar where they make bloody marys strong
Let’s raise a toast to ragged ghosts and loneliness and song

Amen, amen
This one here’s for you
‘Cos love is either wild frontiers
Or automatic blue

Here’s to wine and flowers and a dance in St. Mark’s Square
Echoes in Murano glass and perfume in her hair
But February’s mist is thick and the trail ahead is hard
You thought you’d think of it forever, now it only makes you tired

Amen, amen
This one here’s for you
‘Cos love is either wild frontiers
Or automatic blue

Now the only time that you can see her is when you close your eyes
You put your phone back in the drawer and straighten your disguise
Think of the colours of your children and the songs you give wings to
The spring’s arrived and there’s the sky
It’s automatic blue

Poison and Wine - The Civil Wars

You only know what I want you to
I know everything you don't want me to
Your mouth is poison, your mouth is wine
You think your dreams are the same as mine

Oh, I don't love you, but I always will
Oh, I don't love you, but I always will
I don't love you but I always will
I always will

I wish you'd hold me when I turn my back
The less I give, the more I get back
Oh, your hands can heal, your hands can bruise
I don't have a choice but I still choose you

Oh, I don't love you, but I always will

Slow Dancing in a Burning Room - John Mayer

It's not a silly little moment,
It's not the storm before the calm.
This is the deep and dying breath of
This love that we've been working on.

Can't seem to hold you like I want to
So I can feel you in my arms.
Nobody's gonna come and save you,
We pulled too many false alarms.

We're going down,
And you can see it too.
We're going down,
And you know that we're doomed.
My dear,
We're slow dancing in a burning room.

I was the one you always dreamed of,
You were the one I tried to draw.
How dare you say it's nothing to me?
Baby, you're the only light I ever saw.

I'll make the most of all the sadness,
You'll be a bitch because you can.
You try to hit me just to hurt me
So you leave me feeling dirty
Because you can't understand.

We're going down,
And you can see it too.
We're going down,
And you know that we're doomed.
My dear,
We're slow dancing in a burning room.

Go cry about it - why don't you?

My dear, we're slow dancing in a burning room,
Don't you think we oughta know by now?
Don't you think we shoulda learned somehow?

Spit On A Stranger - Nickel Creek

However you feel
Whatever it takes
Whenever it's real
Whatever awaits me
Whatever you need
However so slight
Whenever it's real
Whenever it's right

I've been thinking long and hard about the things you said to me
Like a bitter stranger
Now I see the long and short the middle and what's in between
I could spit on a stranger (Pull me out)
You're a bitter stranger (Pull me out)

Whatever you feel
Whatever it takes
Whenever it's real
Whatever awaits me
Whatever you need
However so slight

Honey, I'm a prize and you're a catch and we're a perfect match
Like two bitter strangers
Now I see the long and short of it and I can make it last
I could spit on a stranger (Pull me out)
You're a bitter stranger (Pull me out)
I could spit on a stranger (Pull me out)
You're a bitter stranger (Pull me out)
I could spit on a stranger (Pull me out)
You're a bitter stranger (Pull me out)

I see the sunshine in your eyes
I'll try the things you never try
I'll be the one that leaves you high, high, high

You May Be Right - Billy Joel

Friday night I crashed your party
Saturday I said I'm sorry
Sunday came and trashed it out again
I was only having fun
Wasn't hurting anyone
And we all enjoyed the weekend for a change

I've been stranded in the combat zone
I walked through Bedford Stuy alone
Even rode my motorcycle in the rain
And you told me not to drive
But I made it home alive
So you said that only proves that I'm insane

You may be right
I may be crazy
But it just might be a lunatic you're looking for
Turn out the light
Don't try to save me
You may be wrong for all I know
But you may be right

Remember how I found you there
Alone in your electric chair
I told you dirty jokes until you smiled
You were lonely for a man
I said take me as I am
'Cause you might enjoy some madness for a while

Now think of all the years you tried to
Find someone to satisfy you
I might be as crazy as you say
If I'm crazy then it's true
That it's all because of you
And you wouldn't want me any other way

You may be right
I may be crazy
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for
It's too late to fight
It's too late to change me
You may be wrong for all I know
But you may be right

You may be right
I may be crazy
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for
Turn out the light
Don't try to save me
You may be wrong for all I know
You may be right
You may be wrong but you may be right
