So I wrote this last night and I've decided to post it. Here ya go.

And yet more proof that teenagers are falling in love with melancholy:

"Depression among teens toda has become a serious matter. Statistics show that one in every five teenagers has some sort of mental, behavorial, or emotional problem. Of those teens, one in ten has a more serious emotional problem that leads to depression. Seventy percent of teens with depression do not seek help and struggle with their illness on their own."

So says HHS newspaper. The way you deal with it is all your own. Take the purple pills if you think you need to. However, I think today's generation has become too dependent on mental enhancers and things to change the way you look, act, and feel. While it may not be perfect, "to be whom you want is a waste of the person you are." (Kurt Cobain). You can pills that can make it so you are not angry all the time, but that is a characteristic that makes you who you are. Chemical imbalances, while not always healthy, are different to each individual and cannot be sorted into diseases and treated the way that they are. No two brains are alike.

These pills also have addicting qualities. When you first get them, they may seem allright. However, if you take more than prescribed (or if prescribed too much) you will become addicted and the effect will begin to wear off. No matter how desireable the effect, taking too many will not make the end results prettier. You were made for who you are, and don't waste that by trying to diagnose yourself. Rather, live with who you are and blossom to the best that you can be.

One backfall to this: don't become so wrapped up in trying to find out who you are that you stop being friends with your friends. They have a great effect on who you are and you can't get by on your own. Sorry, no one's infallible.

So says the unknowlegable teenager who has formed these thoughts onto paper for the first time.
