i'm in the parking lot of Power Plant, Rockwell, when I think to myself - hey. the Killers suck. but the first album was such a good album. hmmm. haven't heard that in a while. let's listen to Hot Fuss again.
i tune into 88.1, the default station for those cool iPod transmitter thingies, and start playing Hot Fuss, except for some weird reason it plays Soul Meets Body by Death Cab for Cutie. i look at the iPod to double check, but sure enough--
Jenny Was a Friend of Mine
The Killers
Hot Fuss
since it doesn't make sense that Dolemite (my iPod) would do this to me, i figure that it must be the other stations messing with my frequency (which often happens). i tune in to the nearest station, 88.3, and it's playing something else. i look at 107.5 and a dj is talking. weird. must be from some other station. i tune back to 88.1 and there's static for a while, but after 30 seconds Soul Meets Body comes back. whatever. it's a great song, so i just finish it. after Soul Meets Body a weird chillout type song starts playing, which i found weird because what the hell kind of radio station would play Death Cab then Ibiza. the song then abruptly stops, and after 5 seconds DCFC's Lightness starts playing. this freaks me out because i don't understand why any radio station would play that song.
i look at the car behind me. and start driving fast. the song disappears. i stop. it comes back. i drive forward fast again. it disappears again. i slow down, and make way for the car behind me. as he closes in the song returns, and soon after we're driving side by side. i roll my windows down, and make the motion for him to do the same. he does so, looking at me quizically.
-hey! you listening to death cab?
-yeah.
-cool. i'm getting it in my radio.
-ok.
-ok. bye.
-bye.
i drive away quickly, hoping to avoid the awkwardness after the moment.
