I don't BELIEVE this...
My Mac is fried. Dead. Poof!
I - I just do NOT believe this.
I've just spent the last two hours trying every troubleshooting trick I could find - and thank GOD my Dad went ahead and got himself that laptop! - only to meet dismal failure. Finally called the Apple Service people and the guy confirmed that I'd basically done all the troubleshooting myself and I was going to have to take the computer in for servicing.
I have a sinking feeling that I'm about to lose all of the multitude of fannish files I've spent the last few weeks compiling. *sighs* Suppose I ought to be grateful that I transferred the BIG files onto that new portable drive. Just wish I'd gotten around to throwing the whole fanstuff folder over, while I was at it.
...this WOULD happen on a Friday evening, wouldn't it? Argh.
DAMNIT.
About the only redeeming feature of all this is that if it IS a hardware problem, then I'm still covered under the 1-year warranty. Which is some comfort. At least, I plan to keep telling myself this until I feel comforted, damn it.
